I don't watch Pele in the Juniors, but from what I gather here and from the fact he has been 18/19th man for a few games tells me he is close to being called up.

He was in the extended squad for a bit because we literally had no one else. Probably also to give him some time with the main group.

He's no where near NRL ready.

Think there is one game of this, him and (good form) SJ beat the Broncos last year. Game Ferris scored.
Trindall has no line breaks or line break assists and only kicked twice. Defence also not great.

I get what you guys are saying but I really think the answer is give him consistent time in cup to build some form and decide if he deserves runs in first grade or not. I don't like just moving him there cold 'just in case' he plays good

Broncos game was his debut. He was quiet. Johnson was also pretty ordinary for 60 minutes in that game, but had some good play late.

The game against cowboys where he got man of the match I think

He played well that game. It helped that the Cowboys were diabolical and the Sharks forward pack were well on top.

I understand what you mean but there is literally nothing to lose by giving him a go. Nothing.

Ordinarily you wouldn't, but given our current situation, it's crazy not to.

But there is, for one "Things can't get any worse" next minutes blowouts are by 70 points not 40, or a game we could still have a chance in we lose.
And worse games and results will further impact our ability to attract, our ability to retain and the development of our other players.
If Trindall fails to be better than Chad would be then all our other players are now playing in a worse position to play well/develop their own game.

Also if players are training with Trindall every week how do you think it looks to them if he gets promoted and Chad dropped when their opinion may well be that Chad is better?
If Rudolf is undecided between us and Dogs risking making our season even worse doesn't do us any favours retaining him.

I don't think any of us have the info to determine if it is a good idea or not and the logic to just risk it I don't agree with.

As long as you are treating all of the departing players the same, I don’t see an issue with this logic. You may piss off some managers along the way though, and that list of departing players may include Trindall.

My argument is that if this is the direction you decide, you talk to the players in question and give them the opportunity to go elsewhere before 1 August.

Also note that Connor Tracey is the only Sharks player who can play in the halves who is both eligible to play in the NRL before June 30, and has a contract for next year (unless you count Wade Graham).

I have no issue with players leaving early and being in communication with them about that if they have an opportunity and we are not committing to making them an offer for extension or our offer is weaker - if we were in finals contention I would feel different about that but as far as I am concerned this season is a write off and it's basically a season long trial and clean out effort from here

Gards - Here is your “futures only” lineup for Round 16 vs Broncos

What do you reckon? Might get a couple more re-signed between now and then (e.g. Kennedy, Rudolf)

1. Lualua
2. Mulitalo
3. Ramien
4. Taumoepeau
5. Katoa
6. Metcalf
7. Tracey
8. Hamlin-Uele
9. Brailey
10. Hunt
11. Nikora
12. Graham
13. Williams

14. Talakai
15. Wilton
16. Pele
17. Fifita

18. Martin

Chad has a contract for next year at another club - he 100% won't be here. Not the same as a current player with no contract for 2022 at any club as they may still be extended and remain at the Sharks and therefore are worth playing (form, attitude & fitness pending) until we know otherwise.

Would be lying if I wouldn't be interested to see that team run out though, even just to mix things up and make it more interesting. We are losing alot more games than we win this year regardless , maybe one of the green rookies surprises us

If Rudolf signs elsewhere I will be very interested to see if you advocate playing Jack Martin over him.

could give a spot back to Billy M

You would be stoked

but yes I would swap Rudolf out providing the bloke coming in is physically ready for NRL and isn't gunna have his body or career ruined

if we are in finals contention we run out our best 17 regardless of their contract status but we arn't in contention

Billy’s playing this week, no?

I didn’t say Billy because I think the writing is on the wall for him. They won’t play him for more than 25 minutes and the club’s key signing for next year is an 80 minute lock. I think he can carve out a career, but I don’t think it will be with the Sharks.

We’ll see on the Rudolf thing. You might be true to your word, but I reckon a few on here will chuck a wobbly if Hannay drops Rudolf for any of the blokes named based on him signing elsewhere.

It's almost as if you're saying there's a forum bias against Chad.

Billy is listed as a reserve on the NRL.com team list but we have injuries so yea he prob going into the 17 now with the usual reshuffle shenanigans

not worth chucking a wobbly over a departing player in a trash can season like this - focus has to be on 2022 onwards , rip the band aid right off

So your saying 48-0 keeps our dignity your kidding yourself, we’re at a rebuilding stage now sad to say but that’s where we are at.

Blood in these young guns who supposedly have all this potential and hype, what do we got to lose?? A few more points against us?

Got to start thinking long term not short term.

Do you think it matters if a young player is blooded in huge losses, plays with guys that have bad attitudes and is 'coached' by a caretaker who gives just about as many flying ****s?

Do you think, young halves especially, improve in those circumstances? Have better futures as a result?

One for the forum maybe...

Ah remember the days when our forwards would dominate? I might need to watch the GF again as a reminder.

If you’re talking about me, id be fine with toby going back to the jets - he probably needs a stint there anyway

I'm the same. If there is another forward that we want to test out in place of Toby then fine. I just don't agree with dropping someone just because they signed elsewhere.
