Sir Chadley

the only way chad cant come back into the team is if sj and moylan beat parra and penrith asa combo, then there will be no need for him at all
As Eliza Doolittle once sang, "Oh, wouldn't it be loverly!"

I agree, and when I said he should be Chads replacement, I meant when the time comes, and it isn’t now. But they have to keep him around and keep him in the path. Unfortunately this year, if you ain’t playing first grade, you ain’t playing.Drawing conclusions from Trindall's one game is fantastic speculation.
His kick early in the game and on tackle three looked like the exact same play I've seen from Chad/SJ over the past month. The tactic didn't change because Trindall played. It's been executed better (which is why Chad has try assists these days) but you'd think Trindall could improve with more games under his belt.
Based on current averages, we lost Chad's 2 TA's. They would have been pretty handy. SJ racked up 0 TA's, down 2-4 because of the extra attention. That's 4-6 TA's from the halves we didn't get, for those playing along at home. In fact, Trindall didn't rack up a single attacking stat. We were lucky Wade and Kennedy (and Tracey) stepped up, otherwise we were shot.
Trindall ran half the metres Chad does on average.
Trindall missed 4 tackles and made 18. That's close enough to Chad's average (ignoring the Pathers game, where everyone was hopeless).
As I said, you'd have to be harsh to say Trindall should be contributing at Chad's level after one game. And one game this year. And there's just as little out of that game to say he's on a path to be better than Chad. He'd have get pretty good pretty fast to be an integral part of creating a dozen TA's a game! But it's a statistical fact we (and SJ) missed that contribution. Not as much as if we hadn't played Brisbane, but we missed it.
If, as seems to be popular, it takes Trindall four games to fit in and get up to that speed consistently, we've putting at risk more games and, as a result, our chances of a finals berth. I just can't see the justification, unless you like hate Chad more than halves creating tries.

Good post btwDrawing conclusions from Trindall's one game is fantastic speculation.

Not being a smart arse but how many 40/20’s has Chad kicked whilst playing FG?
I can’t recall one, makes you wonder why he kicks as much as he does when we are doing our down town 5th tackle kicks, I realize if Chad was someone who can find open space regularly but I can’t really say he does that better than most, just the norm really.
Good post btw

Sure, based off what we saw from Trindall it confirmed my expectation he should be able to jump Chad sooner rather than later and Chad's two PO years (if that is what they are) still seem awful.
I just don't know how much more can seriously be asked of him in attack currently. A golden run of form above 9 TAs in 6 games is what, 12? 15? If he could do that and the rest of the spine/teams output doesn't drop that would be insane. Takes the average TAs of the spine in a game to about 5 and we are scoring an extra couple tries most games when we already have one of, if not the, best attacks.
(yes I know it wasn't you who said it)
He's more of a liability due to trash games when the team is struggling than lacking ability to contribute to our attack, that and his kicks from our half are never deep enough (his approx 30m pinning kicks are usually okay).
The Penrith game he was very bad and certainly wears a decent share of the blame although that edge was kind of the perfect storm of ****ed - Nene wasn't ready, Goodwin can't play centre at all, Graham was struggling and Chad decided to shoot out at nobody to compensate instead of trying to hold that cluster**** together.
**** all
There has been 12 kicked all year and three of those are by Cleary (Brailey deserves one, player touched line trying to stop it going over)
Last season 25 players kicked at least one, including Chad. DCE had 5
2018 only 15 players got one but one was Shaun (with 1)
2017 and 2016 neither kicked one
It's Trindalls thread so he can have a mention, he kicked one last year in NSW Cup, Brailey kicked 2.
So while I definitely think Johnson should take majority of our kicks (especially if more than 40m out) I don't really see Chad not kicking many 40/20s as having too much to do with our results.
nah, not saying that Bort, its been a question that ive often wondered & I think it may have been you or your post where you mentioned his kicking & it jigged my memory to ask, historically we as a club never have been one to have may 40/20's, I remember when we got Toddy & it was then we started to be a threat or have a threat who could kick them.
Maybe two good bombs. One good run when the game was decided. Some very poor attacking kicks that killed or momentum. Ordinary defence.
I have to put a fair bit of responsibility for the result on this guy unfortunately. He failed to put any real pressure on and gave away field position regularly.
