I think a big difference is that Tricky's kicking game is just straight up better than Nicho's. Trindall's now our primary kicker and it's really helping us win the field position battle.
That was a good 40/20 by Trindall last night, Hynes or Moylan I doubt could hardly ever get any 40/20's. Hence why we've got to keep Trindall in there as the main long kicker 1/2 back then have Hynes as a ball running 5/8. Unfortunately for Moylan that leaves no spot in the 17 though unless we want a bench utility. Tracey would probably be the better bench utility when Kennedy returns though.

What do you the score would have been last night if Trindall and Hynes swapped shirts?

I honestly dont think it matters these days. Trindall and Hynes can still do the same roles whether he has 6 or 7 on his back
I don't get peoples fascination with what number they have on their backs, play like last night and they can have the 8 and 10 on their backs for all I care

The controlling player is still the 7, and the 6 is the secondary play maker.

Hynes at 6, gets to play whats in front of him a lot more instead of having the workload pressures of game management.

Numbers and positions still matter, if Hynes was playing 6 this season i reckon he wouldve been the blues 6. He's a running five eighth and so is Moylan, what was needed was a genuine halfback in the halves. Trindall has adapted and stepped up playing 6, prefer him to be more in control at first reciever and manage games next season

Good to see our forwards hitting form, how the team has changed or flicked the switch on is also to do with bringing Trindall and Tracy into the spine. They releive pressure and workload off Hynes, where he isnt always getting the ball or trying to make something happen with every touch running all over the place. More simple direct footy from the spine has helped our forwards.
Not sure Kennedy was ever the issue.

Kennedy wasnt the issue but having said that Tracey reads the opponents play and organisers the defense better than Kennedy IMO and that has helped our defense but it has also coincided with our left edge defense improving and our forwards finding their balls and the resurgence of Wade Graham.

Kennedy got injured before he could start to get the full benefit of these squad and attitude changes.

Tricky is a ripper of a little player and the commentators are always singing his praises. Doesn't seem salty about spending so many years in NSW Cup or on the bench is just glad he is here in NRL again and is working hard to make the most of it.

I really respect that, the bloke's a team player. It's not about just making himself look good to secure a first grade gig but when he is playing this well surely he will.

In regards to us peaking at the right time or whatever I am happy with the improvement in the team and the solid wins we have been getting but the opposition we have been beating are not on the level of the teams in the Top 4 which are the ones we will eventually have to get past.

The good news is that really it is early days for this new look squad, there is improvement left and I think they will make it. Even as it stands the fact that we can put up a defense and go set for set at least gives us a chance against the Top 4.

A month ago we were no hope of even getting past week 1 or making the finals even to begin with

Agree Gards and we are still NOWHERE NEAR our ceiling so plenty of upside to come for us
We need to be patient.
I do see both Hynes and Trindall will Improve in time. the game has changed to worry who has 6 or 7 on their backs. FB are moving ball playing now also.
I do think we are short of an experience prop, i.e a big booper, who makes metres and has aggression. (I can see tommy going this way ; however he has a few yrs off to excel at this level).
