In short, don't be a dick. Don't deliberately vote to make a point or mess up the system.

For sure everyone should vote for who they think was best, but it's fine for people to have different criteria for "best" too.

Some pick the blokes who get involved in a lot of scoring plays - which is fine.
Others pick blokes who have a decent game with 1-2 stand out moments - also fine.
Some pick players who did a whole bunch of dirty work without any involvement in scoring plays or standout moments - also fine.
Some pick Ellie Johnston every week in the women's 321 because they are in love with her - which is borderline.

What is stupid is when someone want to say "so and so was the best by a mile and if you can't see it you've got NFI". That player might have been the best using that person's criteria but why should everyone else be subject to that? Just pick who you want for whatever reason you want - other than for intentionally being a dick.

Basically how I see it, and what I think is the spirit of the 3-2-1.

Pick who you think is the best three players based on your criteria and your honest opinion about who were the best.

Also some need to accept the fact that its ok that others might have differing opinions on who was the best, so no more of the ‘if you didnt pick this player you didnt watch the game’ kind of posts please. They’re not helpful and just make the person who posts that look egotistical and petty. People shouldn’t be insulted and harassed for who they select.

Thankfully, posts like that are very rare imo.

If that is your judgement no worries, from my perspective I can because they are playing the same position.
In attacking structures in particular they will perform a lot of similar acts - particularly engage their outside player and read what the next best move is to take advantage of that.
I think Moylan directed the team around plenty, at this stage I haven't seen any evidence Trindall does it more.

Well I think it starts next year!
Fair though, although I think some are harsher on him currently than he deserves. Given he runs our team I thought he went very well on weekend.
Other weeks while trying to force something behind a beaten pack can compound our issues it's also the main thing he has in his control to try and turn things around.

Some have said about players in the past 'you can't win a grand final with this guy' - I think Hynes can win you a grand final and that is worth paying for.
You sound like Anthony Griffin when he commentates

All this could be avoided by allowing fractional voting FFS!!!

Just to be sure - I think we better do a re-vote / count for the last 2 years.

Out of all previous halves that have played over the years is there anyone who this bloke reminds you of or plays in a similar way too?

For me he reminds me a little bit of a very young Scott Prince. He’s got a long long to go to be close to the player prince was but I see a couple of similarities there.

It's hard to go past the original Tricky Trindall:

I can see a resemblance.

You would have thoughts Souths would have had a good chance to sign our Tricky. Not sure if the timing lined up with Reynolds leaving?
I wonder if any conversation ever took place.

Sione Katoa has been a beast lately with his carries, well deserved and justified being in anyones 321 including getting the big 3 vote. He has been hard to handle. Deciding on who gets the 321 is very difficult when there are multiple good performers and deserving recipients who have all contributed in different and various ways over a game of footy.

There are obvious troll votes and there are legit ones (which most are the later)

And yes his crabbing/tackle breaking in his case has actually been effective and useful, just like with Jesse Ramien - they have both been making more metres (eventually forward) and making some space for our attack and indecision in defenders. The defensive line can't get set until the tackle is actually made and in alot of cases they have to keep retreating and resetting.

We get some quick PTB's from it as well sometimes and it opens more opportunities for offloads which both have taken advantage of.

As for Trindall on the weekend when on the attack in the red zone his feign kicking and dummy passes were really effective at holding up defenders in the line and making them second guess creating that bit more space and time for the ball recipient.

His defense on our line is an improvement on Mozza for the most part too. Fitz needs to go into the post season with the Hynes/Trindall combo being our default and keeping working with it and give it extended time to gel and improve.

He loves running outta the line on D, waiting for it to go wrong and/or a team to expose it. Irrespective though, his defence has been solid so far.

Where were you a few days ago?!! ;)

I totally agree with everything you've said. I have always considered you a scholarly gentlman who is also most likely handsome and smelling of sweet dried flowers that is fondly remembered long after you have left.

Trindall likely has the rest of this season to set himself as the default. If he fails to, then he shouldn't be. At the moment he is on course to I'd think.

Obviously extensively run your default in preseason but need to get some reps into a lot of combos (sure you're aware of that, just adding to what you said).
Especially if Moylan was to leave whoever the #3 half (or 1st backup for each jersey if it is different people) is needs good amount of reps too.
Moylan has experience with both Hynes and Trindall so less crucial to get him reps there than if a Dykes, Atkinson or Puru was next man up.

I'm remembered for leaving a lingering smell but it isn't of flowers...

The rest is spot on
