Tigers have offered Moses 1.4 mil
Dogs 1.2 mil
Parra 1.1 mil

All offers are for 4-5 years.
I thought Tigers wouldn't be able to blow other offers out now that they signed Bateman
And yet here we (supposedly) are

Over 4 years its an extra 1.2mil vs staying at Eels and in another thread we are saying Ramien might find a third of that difficult to turn down if it's available.

Contextually speaking also 1.1 to 1.4 is a 28% increase where as 100k more for Jesse (650 to 750) is only a 15% increase.
Moses might not even need to move to get his hands on it either, depending on where he lives. Or perhaps not a substantial move anyway.

Plenty of non Sharks players live in the Shire. Don't see why he'd need to move regardless of where he lives in Sydney.

Tigers had a **** team but if everyone has to spend 90% the squad quality isn't too relevant to cap spend.

Once Fifi & Wade were off I'm pretty sure none of our guys were on $800k (maybe Dale but it slides down). Yet we're spent on upgrades while others still hold overpaid players & finding marquee cash to offer.

Api, Ipap, Bateman, Klemmer* are all new contracts on the books which presumably make multiple other big spends tricky.
Although Bulldogs keep finding a way (or at least, like Tigers, find a way to be mentioned for every player).
Api and Ipap at least on pretty good value contracts though.

Based on DT figures and adjusted for new cap we have
McInnes 590k
Brailey 590k
Hynes 708k
Finucane 737.5k
So they also probably have 4 guys in these kind of bracket to then add a 1.4 on top of.

Upgrades + 18% probably moved quite a few blokes into the 300-500k sort of range for us I assume, where Tigers will probably move quite a few guys on rather than upgrade already inflated contracts.

Ramien was originally publicised as 2 million over 4 years but he is not on the most recent DT list (last year) which has 102 players on 500k+ so may have been loaded in some way or rounded up.

Plenty of guys do big drives but if he's already doing a big drive and it gets worse he might like to move - he'll be able to afford it.
Maybe he'd like to move to the Shire too haha maybe a bit far from Parra, about an hour from Tigers centre of excellence

Brooks is on 1.3 mil this year. If they **** him off they can get Moses.

Can't see him living further west than Parra and Concord is a bit closer to the city and beaches.

He'll almost be able to afford a chopper the way things are going.

Someone would have to be willing to take him. And if they did, doubt they'd pay more than ~600k.

This is for 2024 mate. He’s off contract then.

Don’t think anyone but the dolphins would have that much money lying around for Brooks for this year.

Yeah I thought they might need to come back in line a bit more now that they've spent on some other decent players though.
Offer more like the 1.1/1.2 other teams can get to

As I'd said previously I thought they could try and pay a bit more to attract him but only likely if they pair him with a budget option.
Don't know if Doueihi would be keen to stick around for a 'team friendly' contract even if it is for his Cedars partner.
Although also not sure if there will be a good market for him for next year as the off contract list for halves doesn't show any obvious potential landing spots.

I said he might not need to move though and you responded saying you don't see why he would need to move. I'm not sure if I'm missing something here haha
But yeah on 1.4 he can afford to do whatever the **** he feels like

Nobody has to be willing to take him, this is his last year. What he can or can't get elsewhere won't worry Tigers

Snippet from SMH re Miller to Knights - article is talking about Pongas move to 6

But with established fullback Will Kennedy and rising youngster Kade Dykes already on the Sharks’ books, negotiations have continued and Cronulla’s stance on Miller has softened given the prospect of a three-year deal being presented by Newcastle, provided they can land him for this season.

Sources with knowledge of negotiations, who wished to remain anonymous due to direct involvement, have indicated a potential player swap has also been discussed by the two clubs. Cronulla officials have also met with other potential signings to fill Miller’s roster spot.

Sharks coach Craig Fitzgibbon has a huge opinion of Miller since he arrived at the club after representing Australia at the 2021 Tokyo Olympics, and the feeling is mutual given Cronulla backed the Coffs Harbour product’s code-switch.

But with Miller approaching his 30s with a young family and an extended offer in Newcastle, a move could be finalised as early as next week pending the Sharks ability to land a replacement player - not necessarily a fullback.

Knights dangling a 3 year deal with a guarantee at fullback for at least a full year is hard to say no too. Even though he’s contracted if he truly wants to go they’ll find a way to let him. I’d be asking for money in return instead of a player swap. There’s nobody in their squad that would crack our 17 bar there to 5-6 players which they wouldn’t release for Miller. I’d be asking to take on his whole contract plus 250k to us or something like that. Then we should have roughly 600k in the cap to chase a gun prop or something.

Not sure how they could just put money from their cap to ours. Perhaps it’s possible but I’ve never heard of it and don’t love it as a concept (unless it’s only ever sharks benefiting).
Could just say pay a release fee but it’s just money in the bank not the cap.

You need more than 17 players each year, doesn’t have to be someone who makes our 17 to have use.
