He’s just not that good is he. He’s good, not that good.
Value of a good 7 has probably never been higher (well, given cap increase it has literally never been higher) and coming off the back of a good season by him including taking his team to a grand final.

Cleary will be on 1.3, Hunt 1.4, Moses already on 1.06, DCE 1.4*, Hughes 1.06, Brooks 1.13
ARey 0.95 (4 years older with injury concerns), Townsend 0.95 (no club would ever sign him)

Throw in 6s - Ponga 1.24, DBrown 0.95, Wighton 1.0, Keary 0.95, Munster 1.12 (1.3 after this season)

While I wouldn't say Moses is better than Cleary, Hunt, DCE or Hughes he is close and I can see why a club may need to spend a bit extra to entice him there. If he re-signs with Eels for 1.1 that's probably quite a reasonable price for him really. Good chance he does clearly overtake Daly in next year or two too.
He is also probably more valuable to a team than any of the 5/8s listed except Munster (ignoring what roster 'needs' may be).

Lets just sit back and hope Hynes is a good dude and we can do the right thing by each other, while other teams find they have some 'Jimmy Maloneys' who kick up a stink about the deal they agreed to previously.

*DCE perhaps higher as his contract reportedly scales with cap so likely more than the 18% I'm applying to others

Yeah completely agree with all of that. The only one worth that sort of coin is Cleary IMO. I get why struggling clubs have to pay more, I just didn't expect it to get this high for Moses.

The 1.1 parra offer seems bang on the mark compared to other players. But for 1.4, I'd probably back him to go to the tigers/dogs and help them finish above parra in 2024.

Just saw a Til Tok of Kaylyn Ponga sprint training with Roger Fabri and a guy called Bronson just burns him. Awesome. Must still have some breakfast additives?

I reckon he wants to stay at Parra, the hold up is probably due to arranging TPAs to bridge the gap.

Yeah if he continues on with last year's form it's not out of the question. Definitely want to see a bit from him this year before throwing that kind of coin at him.
Agreed mate. I truly believe his best spot is still fullback. Would love us to be able to play him there in 2024. If we could get a star half to play 7 we could put him back there. Just makes our team so much better I feel. Won’t happen though just wishful thinking.

I think he'd like to but only if they can close that gap a bit. It is probably too big to ignore at the moment.

Dbags (22) has his weird PO contract but is signed through 25 season before those kick in, Gutho (28) also signed through 25, so if they give Moses 4 years they have majority of spine sorted for a few years on field, and avoid negotiating with all three at same time.

Hooker a different story with Hodgson (33) a bit of an unknown and much older, but is only guaranteed this season and then PO for 24 so they also buy themselves a little time to sus out their hooker situation before needing to see what Brown wants to do and negotiate with Gutho.

Maybe fullback is his best position but like Hunt at 7 for Drags you play your best player where they can contribute best to your team.

We have a very good 7 right now I'd rather embrace that than try and spend big to get another one. The cap prevents you infinitely upgrading your team. The wage difference from Kennedy (500k) to 'star half' is very significant, especially if we want to also upgrade Hynes. That money has to come from somewhere.
It's all well and good to have a 1 and 7 on a combined 2.7 million until the fullback is out hurt and the 7 and his budget nobody centre outside him can't stop a try to save their lives, while the rest of the team are getting rolled through the middle.

The concept of adding a star 7 I think is fine, I understand it, I just don't think it is probably practical.

I like the idea even less given we'd play Hynes at 7 another full season and then look to move him. Throws him out of whack and alters the structure we are building.

Moses is way over rated for me. Never liked him. Ive never seen him step up and play well in the big games when he has to.

Agreed before 2022 but he went up a level last season.

Hard to argue - he’s improved - but nothing like Cleary level ..

He's not but Moses is negotiating at the right time. If Clearly was up for another contract now clubs would be throwing 1.7m minimum I think.
