We liked Ramien being an enforcer but we didn't like him giving away penalties and getting sent off
It's a hard line to dangle in modern NRL (unless you are Roosters or Storm for some reason and get all sorts of leeway)
Hunt & BHU can put on big hits but are more focused on playing good consistent footy these days with the occasional wack on a ball carrier
An enforcer needs to be a bit of a madman, we don't really have that and I can live with it. I reckon if someone challenges Hunt or stirs him up we will see the fire (like earlier in year against Dogs in trial)
Some of Gals best footy was later in his career when he cut out all the niggly grubby crap and cared less about being a hard man and belting people and just carted the ball up and cut out the errors and poor discipline
I think 'enforcer' or perhaps 'aggression' is just another skill.
Like all skills some players have a little, some a medium amount, some a lot.
It also has a risk reward element, are you getting over your opponent or rattling them? Or are you KOing yourself/teammate or being a discipline liability?
If the NRL was cracking down on the actions of some of these guys properly nobody would be wishing we had one like them.
Ramien was a great comparison.
Hunt with TPJ, Rudolf vs Warriors first game after flipping, Finucane and McInnes' whole careers.
We know we have a pack that won't be intimidated or take a backward step.
I'd rather us trying play through JWH and NAS bs not play into it and risk it being our guy who goes for 10... because it almost certainly would be.
