If he was to sign for 900k that is massive overs. Go back a year and a half and people were questioning our offers to snowden and dougie, I think we were offering Kade 400k and dougie 350, different styles of Props but 500k difference in a year of footy? Don't think so.

Personally an offer of 6-650k would have still been on the high end for Fifita. So for us to even think of going into the 700's is a mistake.

Id keep him at 800k. He is twice the player of the other 2.

In 2 years time with the cap increase it wont be much

It will be when you include percentage increases in his contract, that 800k then massively increases again. Stupid move.

And yes you probably don't know this but many many players last time round had that in contract. So it won't be any different this time round, especially when you get money hungry player managers wanting their bigger slice of the pie

And yes I agree he he is now the best prop in the game.

Back then he wasn't so don't know what you are trying to say. Other than to try bait me into some argument or simply to just take pot shots at them as usual. But carry on

Even the best prop in the game isn't worth 800k a year look at the manly and the storm the benchmarks neither pay props that much and would laugh at us if we did.

A usual prop is very limited and those clubs can see that.

Even the best usually just cart the ball forward looking for metres with the occasional offload or a mini bust. Those players aren't worth a great deal because a good one might make 1 or 2 metres more than a standard one. Big deal.

Fifita can do all that plus more. He isn't even really what a normal prop is. He's just not conventional and should be considered a special case. He can attract many defenders and can create opportunities for others by drawing attention. He can also actually provide some attacking flair, which is really what you want to put your money in, not just a designated position over another IMO.

But, even allowing for a special case, consideration needs to be given to what happens if he goes off the boil or gets injured. I'm happy for us to go over the usual prop allowance, but not into a ridiculous position that means he has to cover three or four other positions at once to make up for team deficiencies.

I rekeon he will stay a Shark.

The Sharks helped make him into a State player and a Australian player.
The fans and members love him.
He lives in and loves the Shire.

Why would you put percentage increases in his contract.

His offer is 3 mil over 4 years, not 3 million card subject to change

They did it so the players got part of the increase. But from memory now coming back to me it may have been for the tv rights deal actually. So mind me lol

oh well, if the price is right then he'll take it.

We did help him achieve his goals, but like typical Cronulla fashion, another club will enjoy what we have built.

I posted a rumour previously that Souths had signed James Graham. On the strength of how hard Canterbury are chasing Fifita, I think it may well be true, and if so could get their man.

IF there is no formal announcement tomorrow, my view is he will be gone.
