If you listen to Sam Ayoub we just about have a future immortal on our hands, Ayoub thinks he's doing good by Lichaa talking him up, he's actually setting him up for some future bad publicity.

I wouldn't pay massive overs, just a fair contract.
Some get the dough and that's it they just plain and simple come back to the pack and then injuries strike BAM-----Tony Williams/toups/Rossy/vagana/kimmorley

It would be stupid to pay 800-900k for him. We could get a high quality half and winger for that.

Cronulla’s Andrew Fifita to stay in NRL as Bulldogs lead the race to sign the prop

THREE years ago, Andrew Fifita was playing park football in reserve grade.

Yesterday, the Cronulla international spent his entire Saturday afternoon weighing up a $4 million dollar dilemma — whether to stay at the Sharks or join rivals Canterbury or South Sydney Rabbitohs.

Off-contract at the Sharks this season, Fifita has also attracted interest from the Australian Rugby Union, who were prepared to fork out $1 million a year to lure the tearaway forward back to the game he once played as a junior.

However, following a series of meetings and phone calls with his manager Ben Johnston, Fifita will announce on Tuesday that he is staying in the NRL.

Fifita has held back announcing any decision until after the Sharks host the Gold Coast at Remondis Stadium tomorrow night.

While Bulldogs chief executive Raelene Castle was happy to confirm publicly Fifita “was someone we are talking too’’, the reality is, the Canterbury club are quietly confident of securing the most prized-signature in the game.

Offering a head-spinning four-year contract of more than $800,000, not including representative bonuses, Canterbury are believed to have edged narrowly in front of Cronulla, the club that resurrected Fifita’s career in 2012.

The Rabbitohs are outsiders in the three-way battle, with the Sydney Roosters never a serious contender. The Sharks definitely haven’t given up on the NSW Origin and World Cup-winning prop. Early last week, the Sharks appeared out of the equation all together, until Cronulla officials upped the ante late yesterday with an offer that The Sunday Telegraph has learned is the biggest in the club’s history.

Fifita’s priority from the beginning of his negotiations has been to stay in the Sutherland Shire — at the right price. Signed from the Wests Tigers by suspended Cronulla coach Shane Flanagan, loyalty to the Sharks — and in particular Flanagan — is a big part of Fifita’s decision.

He also shares a strong relationship with former Tigers players Bryce Gibbs, Beau Ryan, John Morris and Chris Heighington, who have all joined the Sharks over the past four seasons.

After a remarkable 2013 season, which included playing in all three Origin matches for NSW, a World Cup win and being named Dally M Prop of the Year, Fifita said any contract decision would be made with his family at heart.

“I will have a look at them (the offers) and do what is best for my family,’’ Fifita said. “The Sharks have been very good to me and made me into the person I am today.”

The dilemma for the Dogs is how they fit Fifita into a star-studded pack that already boasts Sam Kasiano, Frank Pritchard, James Graham and Greg Eastwood.

The first sentence pretty much sums up the ridiculous fiasco we have infront of us.

A bloke who 3 years ago couldnt make firsts. In 2012 had a solid year, 2013 a stellar 1. All of a sudden people are offering up big.
He earnt it last year, but **** itd be easy to go off the guy if he form drops. If he gets around 800k, youd have high expectations week in week out.

If he was staying with the Sharks you would think he would announce that before the game as a boost to the team. If he's going dogs he probably want's to hold off on the bad news
Then again it's all speculation if he has made his mind up yet, just hope this **** don't effect his performance on Monday night. He's still ours for 2014

The dogs would turn into the new Souths if they got Fifita they would have a massive and strong forward pack all round

I know Kasiano was injured for a lot of last season but Belmore is a obviously a good place for Burgers.

T-Rex looks like he's been on the T-Bones whilst Pritchard has been washing down Pilchards and Pretzels with Pints of Pilsener.

Fifita will no doubt hook into the Fajitas if he ends up out that way.

I just don't see how he could be of that value to that team. Something doesn't smell right to me.

And if you're after the money why not go to rugby if they're prepared to pay $1mil pa?

I really want Andy to stay, and am more than comfortable that the club has busted their balls to keep him, was convinced he was staying few days ago now I've jumped ship and rekon he is gonski... While I love all the loyalty talk that is blurted out by players when you allow your manager to keep sluutting you out to the highest bidder, to me nothing loyal about that (possibly unlike others I am Paul gallens biggest fan, he had plenty of chances and reasons to leave us but was well reimbursed and remained without all this hoopla)..

Keep in mind he's keen on playing alongside his brother and his brother had a blinder last night. Could be our ace in the hole.
