Swans' supporters are very quiet after a loss. Probably off sipping champagne and eating caviar somewhere in the eastern suburbs.

Bet you wish it was still the VFL played in a mud soaked Victoria Park.

Without the Swans going to Sydney, the league would've ceased to exist by now.

The psychotic hatred for the Swans by myopic Victorians are rather pathetic.

Went to my first ever game at Homebush yesterday with an Uncle and Aunty who are into the good old aerial ping pong.

Took the wife and kids too.

Yeah, nah

Was nice of a couple of Hawks supporters to strike up a convo with me at the urinal about how well they were playing

Had to let them know I actually was a Swans supporter

Ceased to exist lol how?
The then VFL had it's arse hanging out of its pants financially in the 80's.

Over half the clubs in the competition were on their bare bones.

Clubs like Richmond, Footscray ( the now Western Bulldogs), North Melbourne, St Kilda were all that broke that they were forced to rattle the tins in the streets to raise money to stop them going out of business.

South Melbourne would've done a Newtown by 1984-85 had they not moved to Sydney and it's a well known fact Fitzroy had entertained the idea of relocating to Brisbane in 1986 a year before the VFL brought their eventual merger partners Brisbane Bears into the competition.

Even Collingwood were on the verge of bankruptcy that same year.

Between the then VFL & the WAFL over in WA had the former not gone national both competitions would've eventually ceased to exist by the end of the 20th century.

They still would have gone national mate. Even though, yes, Sydney is a huge market, it's laughable to say the league would have ceased.

AFL personalities at the time admitted it would've.

As I stated above South Melbourne were in 1981 pretty much at the point that Fitzroy was in 1996 and most of the other clubs bar Carlton, Essendon & Hawthorn were almost broke themselves.

They pretty much needed South to relocate to Sydney and to bring in the interstate clubs to keep the league afloat.

They were pretty much at the point of go national or perish.

Yeah I know but the AFL would have still been the AFL whether South relocated to Sydney, or not.

Anyway, Swans still suck ;)

Seriously though, it's going to be a really interesting year for them, could be one of the very few seasons they miss the finals.

Who do you support anyway?

You must be a Great Waste of Space fan or Collingwood fan to have such a hatred of the Swans.

Carlton.

Mate why are you so defensive? Do you not hate an NRL team?
A Carlton fan hating on the Swans is a ****ing laugh.

You lot alongside Essendon & Collingwood are the most successful clubs in the history of the game ffs.

We've won 2 premierships in 92 years and you carry on as thougb we're like Collingwood & Essendon.

Your earlier talk of caviar in the eastern suburbs earlier is even more of a laugh.

You ever been to that part of Melbourne?.

It's not exactly working class is it?

To answer your last question historically Manly & St Merge. These days it's Melbourne, Penrith and to a lesser extent Brisbane.
