Joined an AFL team yesterday, had my first training session. Playing league and union my whole life, AFL is a completely different beast. These blokes just run all day. 2.5 hour session with 2 5 minute breaks in between when it was 35 degrees. The fitness levels even at reserve grade is just insane. Safe to say I’ve got a lot of catching up to do 😂

Yeah it's well known they are aerobically the fittest players of any contact sport. It's insane how many metres some of them run at full speed in a game.

Still a **** game though :)

I'd be amazed if they do, no one really cares about it.
That's a bit like our version then. If we lose the Origin its not the end of the world as seeing our club win a Grand Final is what matters, in Queensland winning Origin is what matters.

Same thing applies between the Vics and here in SA. People down here have always cared more about Origin than the Vics. The late Ted Whitten was an outlier.

Don't agree with this mate. SOO for us is hugely popular, always in the top 10 shows of the year. That in turn creates massive revenue for the game.

A lot of people love the AFL origin and want it back. You're stuck in the Sydney bubble mate.
It was never really a success, though. The last game 25 years ago only had 28k there.

What do you think has changed?

It probably failed as they had the last few at the MCG. Victorians never really cared about it as much as South Australians did.

The old Football Park was already gone by the time I moved down here a decade ago but you only had to look at the 1994 game there to know passionate South Australians were about that red Croweaters jumper and getting one over the Big V.
