Interest article ranking every clubs spine.

We are ranked 7th between Bulldogs and Knights

Basically, each spine player is given a rating out of 5, plus an overall rating for depth. That makes it top score of 25.

We are scored at 18.

Rating each NRL club’s spine: The usual heavyweights are strong again, but the wooden spooners could shock in 2025 – The Roar

Some pretty generous rankings there.

I like Walsh but he's not a 5/5 at this stage.

Turbo is a 5 when fit, rarely is though.

Burton isn't a 4.5 and no way known Mahoney is better than Brailey (4.5 v 4).

Don't think Nicho is a 4.5, not consistent enough.

Meh I'm not too worried, these people writing these articles can think what they want to think, if they think think that all of a sudden with Luai they can challenge the other top teams & rate the other guys like Bula & Galvin that high compared to teams like us & even Roosters as low as that haha. Trindall should be a 4.5 imo & Tommy Turbo certainly isn't a 5.

It takes more then half a season for teams like Tigers to gel together aswell. I highly doubt Tigers will make the 8 but they'll probably still finish higher then last though.

Nicho is a 5 on his day

He and Will just need to spend more days at 5 and less at 2

That whole article was a piss take, zero tackle writes garbage for people to react.
They're going for a strategy of 'put out more.content out than anyone else and people will read it.' hard to argue with, it's working.

Rating us 2 for spine depth is a piss take surely
I'm not surprised tbh, it's not like we have some big name players that are NRL experienced that have to play NSW cup to start with. We've only got Atko & Puru challenging the halves & Puru hasn't even made his NRL debut yet. Iso & Dykes at FB, Iso has only played 1-2 games & Dykes was injured most of last season so he's not very NRL experienced yet either. We don't have much depth at hooker either, only Berrell, McIness can play there out of position though.

Yep compared to a lot of NRL sides our depth across the spine significantly lacks NRL experience.

We might like Atkinson, Ison and to a lesser extent Dykes, Puru and Berrell but only one of them is really proven at an NRL level.

I rate Atko very highly & I was disappointed when I heard he'd signed a pre contract with St George for 2026 a few months ago, yes Atko is the only player in our halves with solid NRL experience, I've never seen Puru play before because I can't watch much NSW cup that much unfortunately so I can't really say whether he'll be a good player to keep after letting Atko go.

Iso was very solid for us when he made his NRL debut for us last season so I'm looking forward to seeing how many NRL games he gets this season & whether he'll push for a permanent place in the last bit of the season & 2026 season. In saying all that, as we've stated they don't have a full season of NRL experience between themselves yet.
