He had a shoulder reconstruction. This is significant surgery and recovery. Glad we agreed in the end haha
Yeah, latarjet surgery like all those I spoke about and has a usual 4 month return to play in the NRL.

Is Michael Gabreal likely to play for the every week for the jets this year?
Possible but very hard to estimate with much certainty. Probably wouldn't take many injuries but our system does have quite a bit of 'depth' at centre.

With Rodwell and Taukamo leaving you could see

1 Ison/Kennedy
2 Stonestreet
3 Vea'ila
4 Gabrael
5 Hiroti

Jordan Swann however would be a factor at centre and could be preferred to Gabrael
Other centre options would include Ferris and Tyla Tamou but he'd hopefully be ahead of them. Another guy who could be a factor is Dixon on the wing as he may keep Hiroti at centre and get something like:

1 Ison/Kennedy
2 Stonestreet
3 Vea'ila
4 Hiroti
5 Dixon

And if we have 6 Atkinson 7 Puru you could even see Dykes playing centre.

So he'd probably be around the convo but might depend on timing and location of NRL game plus an injury or two somewhere ahead of him to get games.

Actually to throw another spanner in the works: at some stage Nikora Williams may become relevant too

Thanks for sharing mate.

I Thought he would be ahead of most of those guys due to being in our top 30 squad next year.

Heard some amazing things about Nikora Williams. Hope he kicks on and kills it for us one day

He very well could be, it’s pretty impossible to say without seeing him in action this year, in maybe like some trials or something at least. Even then obviously it’d be an opinion/fan guess.

Everyone else on that first back 5 list I wrote would be ahead of him at Jets I would expect
1 Ison/Kennedy
2 Stonestreet
3 Vea'ila
4 Gabrael
5 Hiroti
Dykes too, if that’s where they needed to play him (although could see him often at NRL 18th man or Jets halves because Atkinson is with NRL team)

Could be close with Swann who played quite a bit of Jets last year.

Dixon it could depend whether wing or centre needs to be filled.

Ferris and Tamou hopefully he’s clearly better than sooner rather than later.

So could come down to where Hiroti is playing and from there him vs either Swann or Dixon.

Likely debutant(s)

Talented centre Chris Vailea only needs an injury in the Sharks centre position to earn his NRL debut in 2025. Sharks coach Craig Fitzgibbon rates the athletic and powerful 21-year-old highly.

A teammate of Vailea in NSW Cup, 22-year-old halfback Niwhai Puru will cover any loss in the Sharks starting halves in 2025. An organising halfback with a quality kicking game, the rookie only needs an NRL start to show what he’s got.

Aslong as the Talakai to centre experiment is done, only caveat would be in a game if we lose a player he can go there to cover.
