Its baffling to me how all these “predicted lineups” are leaving Hazelton out. Did none of these people watch us last year?
I reckon he misses out on Round 1 if everyone is available.

To me that would mean 2 things - we have a healthy squad and we have depth. 2 things you need to go deep in this comp.

Tommy will play 18-20 games barring injury, if he’s 18th man round 1, so be it

Good to hear Iro's so keen on developing his game, although nothing Fitz says implies he's close to a starting role.

Probably the biggest takeaway there is not Kayal related.

"Sam Stonestreet, Mawene Hiroti, Kade Dykes and Kayal are all putting pressure on our centres,"

So we're a couple of weeks out from trials and the season is just around the corner after that so I thought it would be a bit of fun to get a few blind hot takes from people before we've seen any play from the team.

Now obviously the Iro and Dykes hype trains have more than enough steam so let's try to explore alternatives if possible.

I'll start us off with a wild one; Kaufusi will be our best forward in 24 and supplant Toby as most fans choice to partner AFB by end of year.

I’m looking for improvement from DF. A reduction in injuries and suspensions should help. Need him to lead the team and again take pressure off Nicho.

Need Ronnie to step up as well. Cut out the BS while remaining aggressive and stop bombing tries. Really want to see the likes of JC, big Tommy and Briton go to another level.

If we want to be taken seriously this year, we have to come out of the blocks and start strongly.

Ooo love a hot take.

The emergence of Colquhoun will have us trying to shop move someone around by mid season to avoid losing him.

Tieg will suffer massively without Moylan going deep into the line, and will be the 2024 whipping boy.

Nicho will finally get a starting origin jersey.

Royce will miss 6+ weeks with suspension. 2 weeks in Rd 4 for a high shot on Horseburgh, only to return against the raiders again in Rd 8 where he'll be sent off for a shoulder to the head, again on Horseburgh.

And my hottest take of all, people will realise the value Blayke brings to the side, but instead of eating humble pie will pretend that he only started being good in 2024.

Quite like all of these, hoping the Teig one doesn't happen though.

My milder take was going to be Jesse C forcing himself ahead of Royce and Tommy in the depth chart

If Blayke starts the year well I've decided it's because his hair was holding him back.
The reverse Samson if you will.

I think Tricky will go well with the confidence of knowing its his jersey now. Hopefully he can dig into the line like Moylan did to open up space on the left.

Yeah Moyza was fantastic at engaging defenders, not even his harshest critics, of which I was probably one, could deny that.

I said it last year, Tricky definitely needs to improve in this area. Might just be me but sometimes he seems like he doesn't want that contact which isn't sustainable as a half, needs to get better in that area for sure.

I think it's a confidence thing. Digging into the line is a high risk high reward way to play. It engages the defenders to create space, but given how deep you are it makes you vulnerable to getting smashed, and reduces the margin for error in selecting the right pass and executing it.

When he came into grade, he loved the little show and go so he's not a stranger to taking the line on, just need him to work at it so all options are available as he goes to the line.

I think the show and go is a bit different because you're more front on and can brace for contact a bit better. Digging in and passing wouldn't be much fun with your ribs being open slather.

Can confirm this it be the case.

Oh yes - I wore a rib guard for this very reason when I played. I was a skinny prick with no insulation.

I'm really expecting a good year from Trindall.
Knowing that Dykes is eagerly waiting in the ranks I believe it will push him to higher limits.

It's refreshing knowing that we are gonna have a half that can kick and tackle.

One you expect contact the other you don't, he still throws the dummy from a couple metres away

I think an overlooked factor in why we are struggling in the tough games.

Yes broncos are behind us so it’s not necessarily a crippling factor but can’t hurt one of their most experienced is their halfback.

Graham and Moylan would have knocked us down a bit too.

This Stat can also be seen as a positive.
We have the 3rd least experienced squad but still making the 8.
Imagine what we could do when our younger guys get more games/experience behind them…….
