Funny - all those stats etc. I still feel we lose most games due to poor discipline and handling. Apart from the Melb game (and maybe Dolphins), we could have won had we controlled the ball and not give away dumb penalties
The close loses and games we could have won are disappointing and hurt but what teams like Melbourne & Dolphins did to us is what gives me the nightmares. Kinda scary we still have those sort of efforts in us.
We still have to play Penrith.... but I think we can make a better account for ourselves than the drubbings they have given us in previous years, mostly because they arn't as ruthless or on point as they were prior to 2023. Still a very strong team though that we will do very well to beat when they are full strength.
Almost my second favourite try of all time behind fif’s.
That Matt Prior try sent us to the Grand Final, we didn't go backwards since that moment he scored. We just kept scoring right up until Fifs try and we didn't do much wrong (bit of soft defense at times in Cows and Storm games though). Our belief really kicked in and we went on with it.
Until Prior scored that try I was filthy as thinking same old Sharks choking in a final ****
And to think Prior might have butchered that try by going himself as I think he had a pass option on his inside but he made the run count, got it down and the rest is history (thankfully).
Prior was a beast in 2016 - we all remember Fifs highlights but Prior was a big part of our success. Shame he went downhill the next season for us and was never quite the same player, was carrying a hand injury or something as well IIRC.
Our line speed and aggressiveness in 2016 was beautiful and we had multiple players at their prime.
