I think mostly the roosters and mostly since the Manu thing. If he gets into the crowd in other games, or plays dirty/milks, they'll return serve.

I see no reason for sharks fans to specifically boo him from the start and tbh I'd rather we didn't as it isn't going to make him play any worse
Yeah, it'd be a bit rich for us to boo an indigenous fullback

Sure but were they ever racially abused is the point
The two aren't mutually exclusive. Latrell has copped some extreme hate from biggoted people. That is completely unwarranted. That doesn't have to be connected to the average roosters fan/wider league fan.

Depends on your motivation for booing him. I'd hope indigenous doesn't come into it.

From the comments on here the indigenous fullback most likely to be boo'd by Sharks fans is Will

If you were him in his shoes I’m sure it wouldn’t feel mutually exclusive.

To say there isn’t a race thing to it would be a little ignorant obviously not every one who boos him is racist but it would be a massive part of it - Kid is very good for the game and we need as much laterells as possible, I don’t think if it was just boos he wouldn’t be as emotional/such an issue

100% correct, two completely separate things.

The racial abuse he cops is terrible, I doubt many would disagree with that.

Btw I’m only saying it because I witnessed it first hand on him and other aboriginal players obviously - it’s putrid especially when it’s around kids

It's only Roosters' fans who are booing him. If it was racist why hasn't it become like the Goodes thing where it was happening at all games?

If we boo'd Will as well then surely it's fine

Only against Roosters. The racism angle is such bullshit.
The link with racism is obviously because of what happened with Goodes.

It is a pretty rough look now that it is coincidentally happening to another outspoken/proud indigenous man. I don’t think the racism angle is so far fetched.

Why wasn’t Val booed when he literally walked out on us before preseason started and tore us to bits on the weekend. There’s been plenty of others as well.

I’m not saying everyone that is booing is racist, or has an issue with indigenous players, but its not a good look for the game - and if anyone is serious about an individuals mental health, indigenous or not, the booing is pretty ****ed.

I’ve heard racial abuse yelled out at Latrell, and previously really badly at G.I and Tallis. There’s some mugs at footy games.

I hope sharks fans don’t boo.

I know this, it's because he's white!

No wait something about that feels off...
Did his thing happen longer ago than the Latrell/Manu thing? That could be a factor...

Probably cos the Sharks fans were too busy yelling abuse at Kennedy, Tracey and Talakai

To say there is no race element to any of it is ignorant, but to say the whole thing has a race element is equally as ignorant. I can also completely empathise how one might get to this conclusion, because if you hear 10000 boos, + a few ********s yelling out racist ****, you're probably going to assume the crowd is racist.

Meanwhile, there's probably 9500 of those people who just don't like you as a footballer. Thefact that this has been pretty isolated to roosters fans, shows that this is more likely the case.

The crowd can realistically only interact with the field in two ways, by cheering or booing. I think the NRL could be stronger in coming out and making examples of the racist deadshits, but they'll never stop fans booing, nor should they.

Also other than leaving to the NFL, Val is just about the least controversial figure in the game. He is softly spoken, seemingly cheerful and a cleanskin. He left us and he's still just about my favourite player in the league.

If I was concerned and upset about getting booed, I would be keeping my head down and letting my footy do the talking.

Not playing to the crowd every time I kick a goal or do something good then complaining if they turn around and boo me.

Nor would I be lying down after every tackle trying to get a penalty.

Wasn't it Lattrell himself who identified himself with Goodes due to the booing? Did he get regularly booed before the Manu incident by Roosters fans?

Not saying he hasn't copped racist abuse in the past (and continues to at present), but to say I'm being booed by 20,000 Roosters supporters cos I'm black and their racist takes the issue a whole different way.
