We have had an easier draw but if we were **** we still would have come last.

Part of why it's easy is because we're actually decent enough to keep winning.

On paper, now we're at the end of the season, I'd agree... but It's honestly tough to measure this year with the way coaching changes and other disruptions (like officiating....) affected results. Manly and the Broncos utterly collapsed at the back of the season. The Dogs and Tigers both had mid-season runs where they were troubling the top sides. Almost everyone thought the cowboys would be bottom 8 material until we woke up to them a couple of months into the comp. People even had the Knights nudging a top 8 spot based on their roster and last years finish!

You'd need to look at the season in thirds to judge how easy or tough a teams draw turned out to be. It's just too simplistic to look at where teams finished at the end of the regular season and say "well, you played more of the bottom 8 teams so your draw was easier".
It's like when we 'hadn't beaten a top 8 side last year'

We had beaten teams that were in the top 8 at various stages but because in the final round they were out of the 8 it's all of a sudden an issue

It does make a difference. It's surprising Gould hasn't considered this, as he's very vocal about how easy our draw has been.

Not sure is Chad's comments in this story were public before, but also interesting that Fitz was very keen to keep him here.
I like Gould but like everybody else he focuses on whatever fits his agenda.

I hope Gould is right , the last time he said it was easy we won the comp .
Yeah that's what gets me, 2016 was nowhere near an easy comp, and our finals games were as tough as they get.

Our draw running into the finals has definitely been easy in comparison, but our ability to field anywhere near a full strength team for most of the year surely has to be taken into account?

Counts the numbers each side of ruck and organises well apparently .
As a team better off in defence and attack
BUT , One on One sometimes a bit of a drama
I got called out for this Kennedy comment .
Turns out close to on the money.

Good luck with that.

The NRL will seek tens of millions of dollars in compensation from broadcast partner Foxtel after the pay-TV giant struck a mammoth rights deal with the AFL last week.

Some clubs are under the impression the NRL has an ace up its sleeve that will allow them to return to the negotiation table with Foxtel for the seven-year deal it signed in 2020.

As reported by the Herald at the time of the renegotiated television deal, at the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, ARLC chairman Peter V’landys and NRL chief executive Andrew Abdo tried to include a “most-favoured” clause in its five-year extension with Foxtel.

It would have prohibited the pay television provider from striking a better deal with the AFL without compensating the NRL for the difference.

Foxtel rejected the NRL’s request, but the club's are under the impression that the governing body believes there was an understanding between the two parties to revisit the deal if the AFL’s deal gazumped that of rugby league. Foxtel did not respond to requests for comment. The NRL declined to comment.

Trell gotta pick a lane. Can't build the hype and tell opposition to bring it on or whatever, wind up the crowd and lair up when you succeed then sook and imply racism is involved when people respond. That's before taking into account the 114yr old club rivalry, that Trell was a Chook & he broke Manu's face.

I can't wait to hear the chorus of boos now. If he brought attention on himself beforehand he's absolutely put the target on himself now. PVL even sooking not to boo him because it upsets Aboriginal kids who like him & won't wanna play RL anymore apparently.
Found this on reddit. Hits the nail on the head.

“People are quick to point out 'his a grub', but that doesn't explain it. JWH and Radley games yesterday were not really out of character, but even though they are playing for a team that's unpopular amongst neutrals, they still don't get the hate Latrell gets.

Latrell is aggressive and cocky.. people use that as an excuse, but it's not out of the ordinary for backs, especially Centre's (which he was for a long time). Zac Lomax has a lot of the Same qualities but doesn't get the hate for example.

Latrell is largely unchanged from when he played for us. He was always 'cocky and grub'. But things changed halfway through his final year.

Around this time, 2 things happened. 1st he said he wants to stand up against racism like Adam Goodes did. He had been a victim of it himself and he wasn't going to lay down. At the same time Cody walker said he wasn't going to sing the anthem. Latrell through his support behind that.

Almost immediately the media turned on him. It was ruthless. He was the Games premier outside back, but then suddenly he wasn't good enough for origin after one quite game. He went home due to some deaths in the family and now 'he goes walkabout and lacks commitment'. A sponsor loaned him a car, now his up himself for driving a Mercedes. He wanted to go to another club to play fullback because Teddy was blocking his path at the Roosters suddenly 'who the **** does this guy think he is'. He did an nrl ad with an Aboriginal flag on his back, suddenly his 'throwing his aboriginality in our face'. Every minor thing he did was suddenly an offence. It's all a part of a bigger culture war that the media, but especially News ltd, play. A lot of racists definitely pumped it up. But the average footy fan doesn't see that, and sadly a lot of footy fans are easily lead by media agenda's in the game. Look at Gus. A great footy mind with a passion for the game, but he was a huge enemy of News Ltd from the super league days, Gus played a huge role in super league not winning the war, so there was a huge smear campaign against Gould and its worked. People hate Gould despite usually agreeing with him. Media propaganda is a huge thing. So there's a lot of racism driving the smear of Latrell, but people can't see it. Not only that, because they've been conditioned to hate him, they have to defend themselves against the cleary racist agenda driven at him. I'm not saying people booing/hating latrell are racists for from it, but they are being unwittingly influenced by people that definitely are. So when that's pointed out they double down. They double down on the intangibles that aren't racist.

Latrell is a Grub! (Well yea, but not at a higher level to warrant the hate)

Latrell is up himself (dudes actually very humble for a football player, but is confident like a lot of elite players, not enough to warrant the hate)

Latrell is always out of postion (shows a try where latrell no where in defence to prove their point, when shown examples of Tedesco, Gutherson and Edwards doing the same that's different somehow)

He's a flat track bully pumps his chest when beating bad teams (ignores that he has had huge big games, from finals, Origins and GFs and has pumped his chest in those games to).

He hit Manu with a deliberate attack to his head ( it wasn't deliberate. Anyone who thinks that is a moron. It was bad tackle but there have been many similar to it over the years )

I could go on and on.

It's a cycle of racism driving the attacks, and genuinely non-racist people unable to admit they are influenced so continually trying to find ways to legitimise that extreme hate. If he was hated on the same level as Munster or Lomax I'd understand, but the fact that the hatred for him goes beyond the hate for wife beaters, Bigots and genuinely horrible people shows it's complex.”

Cameron Smith was hated by plenty, as was Gallen, as was Ennis.

Plenty of white players have been hated.

Does Lattrell get booed in every game he plays, or just when he plays the Roosters?

I think mostly the roosters and mostly since the Manu thing. If he gets into the crowd in other games, or plays dirty/milks, they'll return serve.

I see no reason for sharks fans to specifically boo him from the start and tbh I'd rather we didn't as it isn't going to make him play any worse
