Melbourne get allocated $2m more funds by the NRL than any other team, their TPAs alone is the same as the other 15 teams combined, and they systematically cheated the salary cap for between 1/3 and 1/4 of those years Bellamy has been in charge.

Bellamy is a great coach and the Melbourne development system is very good - but with the edge they have over the competition they should expect to be a top 4 side every year. Heads would roll if they weren’t.

On Cameron Smith - he is so much more than just a tackling machine. Seeing him push a team around the park is a fantastic spectacle. I hate the bloke because he wears a Melbourne jersey but he is probably the best player I’ve ever watched in that regard l.

The NRL admin at grassroots Jnr level are cottoning onto the Storms questionable Victorian Dvlt Pathways support however. This allocation may be wound back or hopefully they forced to redirect some of it. The Private Storm Ownership would be laughing Currently.

Sorry - should have been clearer in my post - I meant until News Ltd sold them, which is 2/3 of Bellamy’s time.

Well theyve been in 2 grand finals since then, now maybe a 3rd consecutive.

Theres no denying Bellamy has a system in place which allows players to reach thekr potentials. Even in his brief stint at Melbourne, Ryan Morgan was a handy player.

To avoid embarrassment and general fan disenfranchisement NRL needs to ensure Storm exit the finals this Friday

For the good of the game

If NRL can't muster the gumption Sharkies can do em a solid, cause Flanno is a good bloke like that

Penrith Panthers table three-year deal to Ivan Cleary

Just a day after reportedly re-signing Nathan Cleary long-term, Penrith have embarked on a mission to unite the Cleary family at the foot of the mountains by tabling a three-year deal for Ivan Cleary.

Fairfax Media
reports the offer is from 2021 - when Cleary's Tigers contract runs its course - however it would pressure the club to trigger an early release given his future circumstances.

If Cleary or the Panthers push for the release, the Tigers are in a position to demand compensation, either financially or through player transfers.
The pair have made it clear of their intention to one day form a father-son combination and Ivan's deal would coincide with Nathan's contract which is believed to be until the end of 2023.

Panthers supremo Phil Gould boldy attempted to poach Ivan amid the chaos that followed Anthony Griffin's shock sacking, however the Tigers stood firm and threatened legal action against Penrith.

The Tigers have remained solid on their position of not releasing Cleary before his contract is up, however changing circumstances could force them to consider their options.
They were also hopeful of the possibility of enticing Nathan to move to Concord on a multi-million dollar deal, however Penrith have pounced before the NSW halfback could hit the open market on November 1.

Speaking to Channel Nine's 100% Footy, Gould declared an announcement on Cleary's re-signing will come to surface ''shortly'' and it is expected to be formalised by the end of the week.
Penrith are still reeling from their dramatic finals exit after falling short of Cronulla in the NRL finals last weekend as a Chad Townsend field goal buried their premiership hopes.

The run of success at the back end of the year has given the club confidence in Cameron Ciraldo to take over the head coaching role full-time, although the determined pursuit of Cleary leaves questions to be asked.
Nathan and Gould strongly endorsed Ciraldo for his handling of the precarious situation at Penrith, yet the club still feels the need for a more senior figure at the steering wheel.

"The changeover was seamless and things improved remarkably in a number of key areas and our coaching staff did a wonderful job," Gould said."Cameron Ciraldo in a difficult situation took control of that and I think he did an amazing job.

"I thought our sides were better prepared than they had been all season in the last month of football and it showed because that downward spiral eased and then they came back up and they were ready to play against the Sharks."

2021?? **** me. (Sorry, I'm not starting a 2021 thread)

Hold strong tigers. Or just set sky high demands for a release.

There is no one better than Bellamy in that regard, but not even he unlocks the full potential of every player. He didn't turn an admittedly young Taga into a star, or Vave. Players like Junior Moors and Maurice Blair didn't really kick on either.

Didnt say he turned em into stars. But most of those fringe sorta guys he gets he has playing better footy than before, and usually they regress once they leave

Can someone tell me why on earth Ivan Cleary is so sought after? Has he achieved anything in his coaching career to date?
