wait, you will call barba rubbish but praise chad why?
At his best he is great, I just don't hold hope of that happening. Whether it's form or injuries I am very skeptical of him being able to play 80 minutes consistently even at fullback. If he is given the shot and he does do that I'll be over the moon. Does he even have speed any more though?

Barba's prior strengths at fullback were all based on speed, not just in a straight line but speed in general.

If Bird plays there it won't be because of speed, but ball playing in attacking plays similar to his work at 5/8, and a mix of power and elusiveness on kick returns, similar to what he has shown in broken play. That is what I believe Flanno would be thinking.

His ability to catch bombs under pressure is the biggest spanner in the works and he does have a few mistakes in him too. Really could go either way.

when barbas leg was heavily strapped he looked slow, but when he was free moving he still had explosive speed

flanno putting bird at fullback is a standard flanno move, the guy has no ****ing brains

barba needs to be the 1 so we can run with a deep bench

I must have been watching a different player this year. I don't think his ball playing is anything to write home about.

Barba also seems to have very good instincts there. He has a habit of being in the right place at the right time. Can sniff out a try opportunity.

agreed again

and his support play is the best at our club

anything other than barba in the 1 at round 1 and flanno may as well pick mitch brown ahead of holmes again

Would not surprise me at all if he did that, this is Flano we are talking about.

Im not sure it is the best at the club. Holmes is an excellent support player. (I would however pick barba at fullback in the trials and see how he goes with holmes on the wing)

Anything other than Barba or Holmes at fullback is laughable.

Our most likely best team is Barba at the back rotating with Holmes in the position to mix up attacking plays.

I'd love to know what he plans on doing with Barba if he does go with Bird at the back. There really is no other option than on the bench which would be a stupid move with more fatigue coming into the game next year. Our forwards will need more of a break.

Why does Bird get first crack?

We were told last year that Val was doing his apprenticeship by moving from wing to fullback.

What apprenticeship has Bird done?

How is he a better option than arguably the best young outside back in the game with a year down on his "apprenticeship" or the former Dally M?

We were also told that val would swap with flash regularly and also that flash will do some general kicking...
