Its a decent problem to have as to trying to fit everyone in, was Ricky that good this yearr to hold out Bird in the centres, its probably a pointless question as I get the impression Flano wants Ricky in the backline regardless of what we think.

is there anything to suggest bird will be a better centre? is there enough to put beale on the left and bird on the right? beale is a natural left sided player anyway, but still, is there enough to break up the val/beale combo for bird?

it is a decent problem to have but bird is better off being trialed at centre than at fullback. we have 2 good fullbacks, we dont need a makeshift.

I agree as well, gone are the days where we had mediocre performances & player x wasn't held accountable & kept their spot, although our backline is not world class we have genuine competition for spots now, here's hoping players gives us/the team performances that warrant them to holding their spot in the team.

bird has the potential to be world class

beale made the touring kiwi squad

feki made the train on squad

that was with robson and bird as halves

you have to think each player add a try or 2 with very good halves now

bird could be a very matt cooper like centre given the chance

I love some of these sides people are putting up.

But honestly, do we really think Gallen will ever be named in the Front Row for us?

It's a collaboration of the longest running joke on sharks fans between Flanno and Gal.

If Bird plays in the forwards, then someone decent is gonna miss out.

Someone like Taga, Bukuya, D Fifita or Prior will be sent to Newtown.

I personally would find it hard to leave any of those guys out.

If Bird plays in the centres, then the bloke who misses out is obvious - Ricky Leutele.

I wouldn't mind if he starts in reserves, and is first in if there's an injury in the backline.

Unsure how Bird playing back row means Taga, Prior or D Fifita miss out?

Youd presume if Bird played 11 or 13 then gallen will move to prop and lewis to lock or stay in the 11. Meaning the current starting prop other than fifi will have to drop to the bench, which will then lose a guy off it

Can't see Gal ever being named in 8 or 10 even though he'd continue to play the same.

Would love to see Bird in the forwards, but there's too much depth there for Bird to take someones spot. Flanno will play him at fullback or out wide in the 9's and he'll carve up and be in the centres round 1. Hopefully moving to lock later in his career.

And if Bird plays in the centres, the Jets team could look like:

1.
2. M Brown
3. Leutele
4. Capewell
5. Gagan
6. Cleeland
7.
8.
9. Nu Brown
10.
11. Moraitis
12. Roqica
13. Paulo

Any other players from our 20's making the step up?
