As long as it stays that way. If injuries hit us, he might become our problem though.

Would take alot of injuries for that to happen, even then we'd probably look elsewhere. We have Maloney, Chad, Bird, Paulo, Barba and Cleeland who can all play in the halves in some way or another. Probably missing a few. Yes a few of those aren't ideal starters but would probably happen before signing someone external.

Hope your right mate, it'll be a sad day if Arana gets a run in a Sharks Jersey. I know that sounds harsh, but it's just how I feel about it.

he has a lot of talent, but as others have said, newtown will field their own players

Not doubting his talent, I just think he's a head case and we need to steer well clear of him. But like you and others have said, he's a Newtown player, not a Sharky, so I am relieved.

I'm sure if he messes up Bourbon Becky and Paul **** will find a way to make it our fault with a nice headline in the Daily Telecrap

Squad is really starting to come together. Like if you were judging the team from outside to avoid our wishful thinking, with Flanno as coach you'd be pretty sure that Gal will be playing in the 13 for big minutes, that he'd play Wade 80 minutes and Lewis pretty close to that as well. I really get the feeling it'll be much like last year, with Barba on the bench for no reason and bad forward rotation.

But whatever, we'll see when it comes time for the trials whether he has Bird at fullback or not. Whether we have Taga/Bukuya/Prior/Difita/Sene-Lefao making up the bench spots doesn't really matter because they are all solid in their own way, what's more important is that we actually give decent minutes to whoever gets picked.

I don't think anyone in here wants to see Bird at FB.
I do. I actually think Bird and Val could play wing and FB in the same way Val did with Gordon. It would also ease Bird through another year of FG, considering he's very young still. And it allows the team to benefit from off the cuff attacking play that both Burd and Val are good at.

It's not in the best interest of the team imo. Barba needs to be given first crack, if he fails after a decent run there then we need to flick him. Val is our long term fullback so playing Bird there would be silly. Can't see Val sticking around for another 3-5 years to play on a wing.

Yeah it'd be a real kick in the teeth for Val if Bird gets first crack at fullback.
