First paragraph on NRL.com match report on our game.

Playmakers Blayke Brailey and Nicho Hynes controlled proceedings and Sione Katoa bagged a hat-trick as the Sharks downed Wests Tigers 36-12 at CommBank Stadium on Thursday night.

No matter how much we as fans don’t think Nicho controls the game, the media will always think he does.

Didn't control much tonight. Brailey was excellent though.

Worse than last year.

We are dog ****.

How we are top 4 I’ll never know.
Besides the way the ladder is read.

NRL is a joke and so are we.
You're so negative. It wasn't impressive tonight however we won, let's see how the rest of season unfolds. You don't win premierships in July or August, you put yourself in a position peaking to win it in September. If we are currently playing poorly then that means there is plenty of upside despite leading points FOR and 2nd in F/A.

If we are relying on Nicholas to control the game we are ****ed.

He is a player who is at his best in broken play heads up.

He is very very good in that space.

As an organiser he is meh.

I thought we had all the momentum and were pretty disciplined, far more than normal.
Good to hear. I've not been able to watch for the last few weeks. My comment was more general, given the way the game went scoreline wise/how the team is going in different match ups. Summing up that I'm not surprised that we can not be completely impressive and still dispatch this mob.

LOL 12 all at half time. This is what our blokes (and some of you) get for the pre game arrogance. Now there’s every chance Fitz gives these guys an attitude adjustment at half time and our blokes go out and demolish them in the second half, but I hope this half is a wake up call and a reminder to our players (and some of our fanbase) that anyone can beat anyone in this league.
I know you wrote this before knowing the outcome but; no, they can't. It might've looked tight at 12 all but they were never a chance over 80 unless we coughed up huge amounts of possession.

Nicho brings his kicking boots & we're a try off putting 50 on them. We didn't thrash em pretty & were poor defensively in some areas but it wasn't close.

Agree with this. I reckon overall though we finished about three converted tries short.
If Nicho had kicked better, then we would have had 40 and close to 30-0 second half.

Not sure why anyone's surprised at this point. We have enough of a sample size to know where this team sits.

We have enough strike to score points against anyone, but we do it when we have momentum and the ball bounces our way. This obviously means with the more opportunities that we get against poor sides, we get the wins more consistently.

What we're not, is a disciplined, patient and clinical side. Not for lack of smarts, because we clearly can identify and exploit weaknesses like in the saints game, but it's just that patience to keep sticking to a plan. Combine this with a consistently leaky defence and we are what we are. A mid range team, that will finish higher than our overall ability due to the quality of our attack.

Our biggest lack IMO is around on field leadership. Someone who can motivate with their actions the way Gal/Fifita/and to a lesser extent Maloney did for us. Nicho is getting there, and will hopefully be that guy over the next few years, but in the forwards we don't really have it. Finucane was supposed to be that guy, but it hasn't really worked out, despite his obvious benefits around the group and training etc.

If Nicho kicks em all say except the final one from way out another 3 tries sees us win 60-12.

****s reckon we struggled, were **** & didn't do much lol

Well, they were obviously tired of putting 40+ scores on this year's also-rans. Couldn't motivate themselves for another NSW cup worthy opponent. I'd love to see a more ruthless side, but I can't really fault them.

Controlled the game nicely for 25 minutes and then, in typical Cronulla fashion, clocked off and let the Tigers back in it. The first try should have been stopped at some point, and the second one was a poor read/effort from Hazelton. However, we were way too good for the Tigers. I still would have loved to see us score more points/tries, though.
Did better than Penrith anyway.

That being said, now that we've won the games we had no right to lose, we'd better start winning consistently against teams that are in the top 8. Doesn't have to be pretty. Just win.

Brailey, Talakai, McInnis (especially in his first stint), Hynes and our 2 back rowers were standouts.
And yes, Hynes controlled the game nicely without doing anything too flashy. Our first real test of the run home is next week though.

NSW Cup worthy opponent? Not the strongest in the NRL for sure but Klemmer, Ipap and Bateman have been amongst the best in their positions which can’t be said for more than 2 of our forwards. Then they have Utoikamanu who is a current Origin prop (as cooked as Freddy is he’s at least playing okay enough there wasn’t too much outrage about it).

On a clean slate you could argue they put a better starting pack out there than we did*

Blore is a highly touted up and coming forward. Hell even Seyfarth had a dig, he’s not much but he’s played a hell of a lot more NRL than Jesse and Tommy. *Throw in Rudolf first NRL game back from a massive lay off. Even there new guy had a bit about him.

Will Smith has played 85 NRL games and Wakeham not as many but has played for Fiji on some decent stages.

Talau and Bula have massive potential. Talau had a really strong season before he did his knee and missed all of last year.

We were the better side, no doubt, but there are plenty of players there who can get up for an NRL game and in the first half they did, before our superiority shone through.

I’m glad they put up a fight. Our team needs to improve and rolling the tigers 66-0 wouldn’t do it. Maybe a bit of a shock in the first half can help a little.

12 all at halftime is a struggle champ, which means it wasn’t easy
No it’s not.. champ. Never looked like losing that and we left several tries out there and if Nicho kicked at his average it’s a much higher margin

I really liked our first half tbh. Was clear the focus was on maintaining possession and field position. Cutting out errors was also an obvious focus.

I reckon we used that game as a springboard for the next month.

Got to give the Tigs some credit , i thought they defended very well and was clearly their focus after last week , but always lacked the attacking ability .

As for us i thought other than more stupid penalties and 6 agains which allowed the Tigers a chance to throw the ball around on our line we pretty much controlled the pace of the game . It wasn't pretty but there's not a lot of teams who can still score 34 points when they're game is a little off .

If we can really concentrate on sorting the defense out then i believe we can still be a force at the back end of the season . Don't and it will be a rinse and repeat of last season .

That game was a seesaw. I could easily see tigers getting in front and running away with the win.

They didn’t find that game easy.
