Bro they gotta be the perfect and complete fullback after one pre season at fullback at age 22 didn’t you realise

That's a foolish comment.

No one expects anyone to be at the top of their game at 22, but this guy is paid superstar wages, has played QLD and his country and giving us chump performances. A certain level of expertise is expected from him and he isn't dishing anything up.

His game last week was atrocious, and that's being polite about it. You cannot expect an entire club to sit around and give you encouragement awards while ever so slowly learn to play a position. Maybe you can do that at a club in a rebuild phase but that's not us. We already wasted a entire year doing that and we shouldn't be doing it again.

Seems most of the ‘val back to wing’ crew are people who wanted us to boot barba after 2015.......for val.

Not true. High standards brother high standards.

2016 is the quality and consistency we should be trying to set our bar at.

We can aim for it, but dont condemn the players for not reaching it. We had every single thing go our way that year. Injuries, suspensions, form....you name it we got the good end of the stick

lol condem ? it's not that serious.. just feel like our premiership window wont be open forever, val had a really bad game and he was average all last year if we persist with games like that and there is no improvement we wont win the comp-its nothing personal i want him to kill it but atm he just isnt

It can also bring Ramien into the lineup who is a gun, Dugan set val up for a lot of tries in the world cup so if thats an indicator that he is abit more open to the pass nowadays then its a good result for us all round whether fb or centre, our style of attack doesn't really reach our centres often which is the most frustrating part we 100% need to improve.

Atleast lets see Dugan at the back and if he fails like so many experts on here think then even better we dont have to talk about this what if bs

Its not about thinking dugan will fail. Everyone has complained about vals ball playing which is in fact better than dugans.

The dugan/holmes combo on the left wing was wild huh? Against a very very poor opposition. The whole world cup was australia vs the rest. You probably coulda had ben pomeroy and nathan stapleton there and set the tournament on fire.

To me, the val experiment has an expiry date, its not yet though imo. Defensive positioning at fb is different to manning up on the wing. Add to that having to be aware of attacking formations so u can set your team to defend them. Again, not something that will be learnt over night. Val has a short period now in which he must improve all areas of his fullback game. But put it this way, he is no worse than flash was/is. If val wasnt such a good winger we wouldnt have this convo

Lol what ? Flash was a better fb then val . You cant even say val is better... on top of that flash was a goal kicker, val does have alot more potential don't get me wrong .

You're right the reason we are having this convo is because val is the best winger that's why he should be there, his ball playing is rubbish - he panics and throws the wrong ball look at his ball playing last year - he had FIVE try assists last year, you can count that on one hand.. nothing to brag about.

let us know when he has reached the expiry date because we have all the time in the world aye

Flash was a terrible ball player, terrible defender on his line too. How many grubbers just bounced past him? The ONLY thing flash had was an evasive running style good at bringing the ball back...and well, we know val has that.

If you continually compare every player to their respective position of 2016 youll always be disappointed. Barba had a year thst was probably close to as good as his dally m year. Maybe not as many tries or try assists but overall was probably better. Less mistakes, better defensively. It would be great to see anyone reach that, but players like that, year after year arent a dime a dozen

I wouldn’t say Holmes is better than flash at fullback, in fact I think flash was much better. Kicked a tonne of goals for us too. Flash did however have many years at fullback under his belt.

There is nothing that Flash could do that Val can't. And Val can do the things that Flash did well better than him.

Goal kicking has nothing to do with it.

I can count at least 5 times flash let grubbers bounce over him that led to tries. I also remember him never passing to guys in out the back plays, just straightened up and took the tackle. I also remember 1 time he ran the ball into the ingoal when he had straightened up then ran it into touch cos he had no idea where he was. Was a lover of letting the ball bounce for the easy catch.
