Was safe as houses under the highball but we’ve come to expect that from Will.

The big highlight for me was how often he beat the first defender on his kick returns. Seems like he’s realised that he’d got a decent step and can get around a defender or two to steal another 5 meters when he hits the defensive line.

He played well, safe as usual. Looks like he is high on confidence.

Would like to see the team run some plays for him, too often he is expected to created something for himself. He doesn’t need to be doing hitups either.

Might be imagining it but seems like he’s breaking more tackles and looking more dangerous when he runs it

I've seen Edwards, Tedesco, and Papi miss one-on-ones. It happens to all fullbacks.
Many forwards make more tackles in two to four games than most fullbacks do in a season.

Tedesco career best is 121
Blayke has made over 1000 last three straight years

And they likely did that all through their whole junior career too.
90%+ of the time the forwards are tackling at training the fullback is taking bombs or running shapes.

Will’s lifetime in game tackles might be less than Blayke’s best single season.

It’s simply unreasonable to expect a dude who makes 10% as many tackles to be consistently especially close to stopping guys paid hundreds of thousands of dollars to be difficult to tackle.

Doesn’t mean there’s no times he could have done better by any means. It’s certainly not a strength, even compared to other fullbacks. But he quite simply is not in the NRL to tackle and it’s not something they are going to focus on improving.

I'd find that pretty disappointing and tbh concerning if true.

He's having a bloody good season so far but his defence can still get sub par for mine. I thought there were at least two really poor one on one misses today. Not saying the best fullbacks make them 100% of the time but he never looked like it in those two instances.

What percentage of his training do you want to see us swap to be one on one tackle focused?

And is that when he is keeping polished on taking kicks or working with our backline you’ll give it up time?

Obviously don’t want to risk injury either

I just don’t think it’s practical to focus on it

I think it's the only area of his game that's subpar for mine, absolutely should be worked on. You hear of players doing extras, maybe he needs to as well.
