I’d rather not draw comparisons, but I can’t help but notice that Will has been channeling some serious David Peachey vibes this season. It's hard to ignore the resemblance!
Nowhere near Peach sorry mate. Peach did this game in game out for 10 years.

Kennedy has played at Peachey's level for probably 10% of his career. Couple games here & there.

All good, mate. I don't mean to say that he’s Peachey incarnate. He’s nowhere near that level yet. I've just noticed the way he’s contested the high ball. And, they try he scored on the weekend. The way he moved. It reminds me of The Peach. That’s all.

  • Peachey 110 tries from 232 games for the Sharks (0.474)
  • Kennedy 45 tries from 113 games (0.398)

Peachey a better player overall, though Kennedy safer under the high ball.

Peachey would have copped plenty of abuse too though if social media/forums had been more widespread during his career. Don't think you would find a defensive highlights reel for him either (going off memory).

"peachey had lost his spark over the last two years and had been playing like crap.
he just wasn't injecting himself like he used to (and is now).
just like thommo, i think it got stale for him and he needed to get shafted to fire him back up again.
it was good of us to get rid of him and good for him and souths too by the looks of things.
besides, how much longer did you think simmo would sit in the queue before he wanted to jump ship?"

Imagine the lynching Peach would have got after the 1999 prelim!

After our first game against the Broncos in 2006, I actually remember people saying we made the right decision to let Peach go when Simmons had a blinder debut at fullback.

Especially after Simmons made a length of the field break from a kick return and set up Darren Albert to score.

Show’s how easy it is to judge in hindsight. Simmons turned out to only be an average fullback, however he was the GOAT winger 😎

Darren Albert....we definitely didn't get the '97 version
