"if he shows good form against inform/top teams and goes another level".

To be fair, that should be the standard we expect from him to begin with, not the basis for whether or not we re-sign him.

It's not exactly a huge vote of confidence, extending him a year. Even if the club offers him a 1 year contract he should take the hint and throw it in their face and find another club.

If we want a fullback to hold the spot and do a job until a younger option is ready, we should be looking at securing someone like Trai fuller. He's waiting in the wings and deserves a full time number 1 gig and has proven himself capable in every NRL game played thus far.
Its only because the recruiment options are slim at the moment. Also 1 year keeps him motivated to keep proving himself like he's doing right now. I'd rather Will continue with this years form instead of waiting for Ison or Dykes who are still green in first grade.
Trai Fuller is good but think he re-signed til 2026, Dolphins wouldnt let him go early, perfect replacement for Hammer

Trai is quick but much less reliable than Will. Hence why he has barely played any NRL despite being the exact same age as Will.
Coming off an ACL injury absolutely shouldn’t be throwing Will away to go to Trai.

It'll be hard for Ison or dykes to no longer be green in first grade, if you extend will a year and neither of them see any game time in first grade.

You have to blood them eventually. They're not 16 year olds anymore.

1 year extension does nothing for a team entering a window. WK would be far better of securing a multi year contract at another club, rather than taking 1 year with us and having to fight for his future.

Mate if we listened to you Iro and Trindall would still be playing NSW cup, apparently Iro couldn’t defend and Trindall wasn’t good enough and there was a reason they were playing Cup

Saying things like there is a reason the coach isn’t picking them in the NRL is a very simple mindset

Some players just need the chance and the time. Thats one of the differences between a coach and a very good coach ; Jye Gray & Dylan Egan are perfect examples

I get where you're coming from but Gray and Egan are 21 and 20 and Fuller is 28, so I think its a different scenario.

I think Fuller would be there 1 and Hammer in the centres like they finished last season if he was fit. Wayne gave him the chance and he impressed. And yes I'm aware he's a very good coach.

They're green because of injuries, with Dykes run with injuries either let him go or keep him for depth if he can stay fit for an extended period of time. Ison injury this year will set him back another year. If we're entering a window both wont be ready to replace Kennedy next year.
Yes Kennedy would be better off securing a multi year contract, but i would like us to also have the option to replace him for 2027, seeing the other two are not ready yet as a fulltime replacement

Commentators seemed to get a bit mixed up if the criticism of Will's form was from the last few rounds or the start of the season. Well we know he was in pretty good touch first 3 rounds.

Can't always look to the future and ignore the now cause right now Will is the best fullback we have at the club but there isn't a number 1 in the league that plays to that level every single week so to use it as a yardstick or benchmark moving forward for what is an acceptable Will Kennedy performance seems unreasonable and unrealistic.

Isn't go to light it up every week (I mean it would be nice and all..) but he reminded us all what he is capable of on Saturday

Even if he has a game where he might not be going that great with the ball the fact he pretty much never drops a bomb saves us extra tackles and likely a conceded try / momentum change essentially every week

His bomb defuse rate must be in the high 90% range, I can't recall a safer fullback under the high ball Sharks or otherwise, it's really quite remarkable

Will was one of our best the first few rounds.
He was then in and out of hospital and had games that reflected this
Last start he was one of our best (if not our best) again.

He's a good fullback and we're lucky to have him. I don't understand the hate

Especially for his price tag.

Even his 'poor' games - he is still 99% safe as houses. Compare that to say a Reece Walsh poor game who couldn't catch a wingless fly trapped in honey!
