And after tackling burgess in the middle didn’t manage to stop a 105kg winger on the cover. Be great if he did, but still not guaranteed by any fullback.
I thought he should have been able to get under the ball on that one, didn't think it was a great effort tbh.

So should trindall then, and every other player making a sideline tackle

I didn’t list it under things he did well

Trindall made first contact, I thought Will had every opportunity to get under the ball .
So why didn’t trindall stop him with first contact if it’s so easy

Again, not listing it as a highlight of his
Simultaneously not sure why you think it’s so easy to just ‘get under the ball’ in a live high speed collision. Think you could find plenty of similar ones through history, many of them not stopped.

I didn't say it's easy.

If someone makes first contact it makes it easier for the second man in to have a crack at it.

Just watched it again, zero chance Trindall could have got under the ball. I maintain he was held up just enough for Will to make a better effort at getting under the ball.

Weren’t you apart of the whole I know how edge systems work breaking down a try that got scored on Ronnie’s edge last week ?

Trindall shouldn’t have even been anywhere near that tackle tonight.

Ronnie and Iro got it completely wrong but it’s crickets because you will try whatever to throw shade on tricky now that Moylan is gone

Yeah.
More so Ronnie I thought cos he jammed in when i didn’t think he needed to as Iro was there and had his man covered.
Tricky and Will sweeping around, getting there late (but it is what it is).

I think some teams put more focus than us on firstly getting under or covering the ball rather than stopping momentum & that was an example.

Will is a good player , 26 years old with time and talent to improve. Has had a couple injury disrupted seasons of late.

I really like how safe he is under a high ball (especially one that isn't challenged) he's one of the last guys you expect to fumble this sort of ball and that can't be said of all backs. He doesn't give me heart attacks or PTSD

His defense is a mixed bag but overall better than where it used to be, he isn't afraid to run head first into the line but his attack with the ball isn't clinical and can be kinda hit or miss so his execution isn't quite at the high level yet.

Of 17 regular NRL fullbacks across the clubs I would have him currently somewhere in the middle with about 7 or 8 guys above him. Drinkwater, Walsh, Campbell, Turbo ect but most of these guys are at the elite level of players capable of breaking a game open on a whim and regularly and I feel Will is currently in the Tier below that which is still good but not the cream.

2 seasons ago I might have had him as high as Top 5 or Top 3 in the game, he was just so slick and smooth in attack.

If he wants to just be a safe and solid option at the back he needs to get stronger in contact in defense but he is better than just being that and he must know it cause we have all seen what he is capable of with the ball in the right structure and when he's really switched on.

Kennedy one of the better kick return meter makers is a surprise to me (all comers dominated by DEdwards this year)

I think our attack being a bit different this season has affected will the most. Not as many sweep plays seem to be getting a run which is good I think as a whole. Seems to be playing a lot more direct through the middle to me.
The sweeps are good you just need to earn them in the middle (or opposite edge).
Try and run them off a slow PTB when defence line has resettled and they'll too often run out of space.

That's the guts of the argument really. Did they do what they should have and were just beaten by a better play, or did they screw up.

Have to say I'm leaning towards beaten. Sometimes it just happens
