Fitz said in the presser it's only about Will's 6th or 7th game with Nicho and Trindall. It's does take time to get the spine synced on the same page.

Yep. Only one game last year. Manly debacle.

I didn’t think about Edwards…. Actually didn’t realise his country background
I think given the "exhibition game" style of CvC in the final years, if it actually happened I reckon they'd just pick all 3. Drinky at 6, Kennedy bench, move Edwards to wing for a a while.

I think sometimes we think of the Panthers system just churning out local kids, but they've got a few country boys in there.

He's solid without being spectacular , which works within a good team .

I think alot of criticism this year beyond some questionable defensive efforts has been the lack of support play / ball playing (on edges), was it Will, new structure, new combo, coaching???

Fitz has suggested it was just Will getting used to new combos at least based on a line in his pressor.

I was watching the Dogs game beforehand, Connor Tracey was at fullback and man he was involved in everything beyond just kick returns and hitups (of which he did alot), he was there in support and on sweep plays popping up every single set.

I like Tracey and was bit envious thinking why can't Will be doing this for us kinda like how he used to?

Well against the Cows he came back into his own and restored alot of the faith that he can still do the business with the ball and on attacking plays.

I thought the Cows prob gave him too much time and space with poor kick chase and afforded him space on the edges which he was able to dart out to and put something on but all the same he took advantage of it which was good to see. He was around the ruck for quick runs as first receiver or from an offload too.

So yea hopefully it's just been some growing pains with the new combos and there isn't anything more to it than that. Like all our spine members, we need them firing. Especially as Nicho seems to be reeling in the play making a bit more of late or maybe that is just other spine players stepping up.

Alot of us city folk almost consider Penrith country anyway haha - once Parramatta Rd turns into the M4 it's another world and Panthers have links to Bathurst ect. anyway

Solid and safe as houses under the high ball......but very awful one on one defender.
One on one defence is a nice to have in a fullback. There are very few in the comp that are good at it. It's way more important that they count numbers and organise the line effectively.

Turbo, Gutho and Teddy are probably they only really strong defenders one on one IMO.

He seems better defending a player running straight at him but I'm glad he's not a winger cause his defense on a player out wide running to his outside is shoddy as. It's like he isn't committed , either that or his technique is really bad. I don't expect him to smash some massive winger in motion but how about a legs tackle or something, try to take him into touch.

I would rather make that sort of tackle than some monster running straight at and over me.

Yeah no doubt he can be better in areas. I guess was more just pointing out that strong 1 on 1 defence is more the exception than the norm for fullbacks.

Last time he tried a one on one tackle he knocked himself into next week.
