I'm sure there were many other things that went into the guy's thinking, but if Anasta had went to Rugby in 03-04 as was the rumour early, would Thurston have left the Bulldogs? ****ing highly doubt it.

i dont think he would have stayed at the dogs, he was very vocal at the beginning of 04 about a release to go to qld

Hmm, you might be right snowy - Judging by how bad my memory is, I'll bet against myself and have you as being correct.

But seriously, Bulldogs go through a period of scandal and win the comp that year, we go through a period of scandal and the team's best achievement is managing to find a way to piss in their mouths... G'damnit.

If we're serious about signing Hunt there's no way Brisbane can compete money-wise. I'd be offering 800k. Yes that's right, 800k.

Its either pay overs or play robbo.

People on here sook about how much salary a player might take, but really if it gives results its worth it. Cant sook about robbo if you wouldnt pay up big for a massive upgrade

I don't mind paying alot or overs for a key position or key talent - ie half, hooker and full back. We have Gordon with Holmes taking over, we have Ennis with hopefully Brailey or Deitz taking over. We have Brown hopefully to cement himself as a genuine 5/8th with another off season. Just leaves a dominant halfback. Hunt everyday of the week !! Not Carney money but make it close imo.

I don't have a problem paying overs a for a quality halfback with a lot of seasons in front of him, particularly when we have the money and cap space and the reality of how unattractive a club we are. A good halfback makes all your other players in your team more effective.
Spending the stupid money we do on back rowers and the such it is a waste unless you fork out some good coin on a halfback to compliment them (and a coach that understands attacking structure....)

I love being right about signing a player.

600k + hell the only figure I would say no to is 1 million. The kid wins you games.

to be fair when I disagreed with you we still had the bubbler, to have that much money tied up in the halves would be silly

Now we need him lol

Have been watching Shannon Boyd play for a few weeks and think he is quite solid in the 8. Maybe we can get him on the cheap to replace Gibbs.
