Kinda hard to find where we can have a solid discussion based purely on a coach for the remainder of the year. What does everyone think?

Would you prefer we just keep Shepard for the rest of the year until flanno is back? Should we get Price or should we be all over Noddy? Should Price and Noddy stay on as assistants for 2015?

Personally i think we should be all over Noddy right now. Every time i hear him speak about footy it makes me want him more and more. A genuine lover of rugby league and knows the ins and outs with a fresh outlook on the game. Really want him and id rather him over flanno, but that won't happen.

Hearing Beau talk about Price on the footy show though him and the big marn want Price so the players will probably get their way.

What say you all?

Noddy. He knows the current game better than the other candidates. He will bring enthusiasm as a new coach and has the smarts. I'd be all over him

Noddy.

But knowing our luck, he'll end up being a great coach who we will have to wave goodbye to at the end of the year only for him to go to another team and lead them to greatness.

Sad thing is i think he genuinely wants to come here, and we will show him the door due to stupid, blind loyalty.

Noddy as coach and bring in Price as his assistant. Then both can be assistants under Flanno next year.

Noddy was always gonna end up as a coach. A really smart Rugby League man. Don't worry about his flat playing style, he will adapt to what ever works in the current game.

I've seen him on both Sterlo and Fox Sports News in the last couple days, and he's spoke of "coming home".

The bloke is keen, get it done Sharks.

Hopefully Noddy shows more attacking vision as a coach than he did as a player.

I'd like Noddy too, but from what I've heard on here the club has gone cold on him. Could this be because of Flanno? Maybe he doesn't want to work with Noddy next year and is worried that Noddy could look a better coach. Could certainly happen.

If Noddy isn't the man then I'd be happy for Shepherd to stay on until Flanno comes back.

How's this though for a left field thought? Let's say ASADA don't hand down any punishments and Shepherd continues on as coach (so no Price or Noddy). It would be long odds but if all is well next season what's to stop Flanno talking Sharpie back into his old job?

2015 could easily see Flanagan and Sharpe at the helm again.

I shudder at the thought.

What are the requirements?

I doubt we want someone to put a broom through the playing list. a) because Flanagan will be back soon and b) despite appearances, the core of the squad is handy.

Finals are gone. So we look to next year and somehow whoever comes in has to be able to motivate this mob to play with some pride and not embarrass the Club or turn away supporters with atrocious performances.

Secondly, we need someone who can do some teaching given how young some of our key players are.

Thirdly, we have at least one vacancy in the coaching group for next year. Noyce has made some noises about appointing someone who can learn under Flano in a senior assistant's role.

Noddy ticks a lot of boxes but surely there are question marks over that first criteria - has he ever coached a team at any level?

I've suggested Andrew Dunemann elsewhere and I think he'd be a good fit. The problem is that no Club will release a current assistant coach if they're contracted for next year so that rules out guys like Steve Georgalis, Peter Gentle, Jim Dymock, Neil Henry, Matt Parish, Jason Taylor and so on.

PS: Dymock would be my pick as head coach if we were after someone on a permanent basis.

All good points AB.

Also read somewhere that Steve Folkes's name was being thrown around. I can't find the article but I'm fairly sure he isn't contracted elsewhere. According to Wiki he has a 56% win rate from his time at the dogs.

Either way I'm happy from Noddy to be given a shot.

hopefully not steve ****in price. The guy had some decent backs at dragons and still played boring terrible football. Him and flanno would be the most negative style pairing in the history of the game.

Noddy wouldn't be bad I think he has learnt a lot and changed his philosphy from working under des for a year or two

Noddy is the obvious choice. We should start a similar campaign to what the Swans fans did when they wanted Paul Roos hired and the club wanted Terry Wallace. The fans won that fight.

He would probably love the chance at the job... To me that's what we need, some enthusiasm, someone that wants to come in and grab the role by the balls. Not someone that just wants it because they have lost their pay check and need a job
