to the "anti" porter comments i think you guys are wrong in bagging him personally i liked watching porter play seriously i think and alot of sharkie fans think he played better footy than barrett for the rest of the year. if you think porter is an injury worry look at barrett..i must admit barrett soldiered on from the big hits than he used to in st.chokers but like seriously porter is a player we can not lose.
Agreed, at the very least his kicking game was better than Barrett's and the rest will come along. It is hard to judge him from the little we saw as after our brief winning streak the team collapsed and everyone played badly so it is hard to judge him. But considering there was at least one win (or was it two?) with him being the only genuine half in the side and Williams at Five-eighth there are promising signs. Whatever anyone thinks of him he certainly deserves the first crack in 2010.
Get your facts straight mate, you don't know what you're talking about!!!
Jordan Atkins is a winger and has been at the fringe in the Titans for the last two seasons. Had a blinder in his first game and scored 4 tries including the infamous 'air jordan' try.
You probably mean Jordan Rankin? If so he was still in year 11 when he first played, and I believe the Titans gave him 2009 off to do some religious mission in Africa because he's a Mormon or something like that.
So you reckon a 16 year old still in school is crap because he didn't keep a first grade spot over Scott Prince???
If this guy was available we should chase him hard.
Without Porter we get the spoon in 09. I can't believe how unfair and ungrateful you guys are being to Porter. He saved our arses and he deserves a shot.
I think everyone meant Jordan Rapana, not Rankin- Rapana's the one off missionary-izing.
I was thinking this morning... I've been against us making a play for Thurston for a while just cos I've thought he'd basically rip our cap apart and make it impossible to keep other players we wanted and that fact that apparently he's a bit of a tool off-field.
Then again, he's the best player in the comp, and I reckon our squad for next year is about $800 000 under the cap. And he'd solve all our point scoring issues with guys like Fergo, Collis and Wright outside him.
I think we need to lock up Williams, Mannah (conditional on fitness) and Flano (conditional on realising some of his potential) as early as we can, and try and encourage Baz to stay another year. Thurston and Barrett halves pairing = best in the NRL.
Could sign the bloke for three years and while Kelly and Townsend mature.
The other bloke I'm particularly keen for us to pick up would be Ben Matulino from the Warriors. He's only 21 next year, 6"4' or so and 106kgs, and in the same mould as Toops was when Ricky got him at the roosters- plenty of potential but doesn't hit the line hard enough. And is a huge hitter in defence, something that's a little overrated perhaps but that we don't really have. He'd be great off the bench I reckon.
Two signings and some good resignings and you'd have something like this:
1) N. Gardner
2) B. Ferguson
3) D. Collis
4) M. Wright
5) N. Stapleton
6) T. Barrett (c)
7) J. Thurston
8) K. Snowden
9) S. Flanagan
10) L. Douglas
11) R. Williams
12) A. Tupou
13) P. Gallen
14) P. Aiton
15) S. Vave/ J. Mannah
16) A. Cuthbertson
17) B. Matulino
Top quality lineup that, I reckon. Thoughts?
I hope Millo's preseason is shaping up well, looks like he might be taking over a big, bustling, enforcing edge role from some bloke who used to play for us back in the day.
Just a couple of experienced locks off contract next season- Feleti Mateo, Luke O'Donnell, Alan Tongue.
if the CEO isn't wearing knee pads tonight for an extended session sucking gals wang then i dunno whats going on with the world
