I started reading Lewies new autobiography and Craig Greenhill’s name popped up so I got to wondering what he was up to now.
I loved his “take no prisoners” approach, so thought I’d start a thread to see if anyone has any ideas of what our past players are up to?

Do you mean retired players, or just anyone who ever wore a Sharks jersey? I.e. do you want to know about the “Tony Gigot”s our there?

I do have an update on Paul Fisher - I was actually considering making a separate thread for him. Paul and I played for the same Qld Cup team and I learned at a recent reunion that Paul has motor nueron disease. One of his ex-teammates has started some fund raising. If anyone is interested in donating please send me a private message and I will pass on some details.

Ok. I’ll add some soon on blokes playing up in Qld and a few of the kids ex-20’s and ex-Newtown players.

Myles Taueli was looking like he might become an NRL player but I don’t think that is happening any more.

Here are a few ex-Sharks players (mostly in Qld). I avoided the obvious ones (e.g. Scott, Isaako, Addo-Carr, Frizzel) and other than Taga none of these are former regular first-graders, but they all wore Sharks or Jets colours at one stage:

Pat Politoni (2014-2015) plays for Burleigh in the Queensland Cup and is one of the better hookers in the comp. He played a few games for the Titans in 2017 but doesn't have an NRL contract anymore.

Sami Sauiluma (2015) also plays for Burleigh and is a very good player at that level.

Lane Ferling (2017 U20) plays for Souths-Logan in the Q-Cup, but only got in to one game in 2018 off the bench. He spent the rest of the year in Brisbane local A-grade.

Manaia Cherrington (2017) left the Warriors mid-season 2018 to join Souths-Logan in the Qld Cup. Solid player but not a difference-maker

Matthew Wright (2009-2013) has signed to play for Central Qld Capras in the 2019 Qld Cup. They have a feeder agreement with Brisbane (though his contract is Capras only at this stage)

Josh Tuilagi (2016-2017 U20) played in that same local A-grade side for Souths

Josh Cleeland (2016) was very good for the bulldogs in NSW Cup, but copped a few injuries over his two year stint. He wasn't re-signed but I'd expect him to pop up somewhere else in NSW or QLD Cup. He's a gun at that level.

Clayton Uia (2017 U20) plays for Souths-Logan and spent 2018 as a back rower in the U20's.

Penani Manumalealii (2013-2014) played 2018 on a Newtown Jets contract, but mostly played for Glebe.

Sam Tagataese (2011-2017) spent 2018 on a Broncos contract, but played mostly with Norths in the Qld Cup. At one point he lead the PoTY competition for the Q Cup. He has re-signed with Brisbane, but they don't always send their players back to the same feeder club each year so it remains to be seen where he will play.

Harrison Smith (2017-2018 U20) was a Redcliffe Dolphins junior. He has signed with the Dolphins for 2019 and is expected to compete for a spot in the Q Cup. They have a few other good hookers though, so it could be tough.

Atelea Vea (2009-2010) played for Wynnum in the Q Cup in 2018, but wasn't re-signed.

Jordan Drew (2016-2017) finished 2017 with the Townsville Blackhawks and played for them again in 2018. He isn't a standout at that level. He has signed with Wynnum in the Q-Cup for 2019.

Connor Tracey (2014-2016 U20) missed pretty much all of 2016 and 2017, requiring 3 separate knee surgeries. He played most of the 2018 season for North Sydney and was one of the better halves in the comp. He recently re-signed with Souths for 2019.

Harrison Muller (2015 U20) played for the Sunshine Coast Falcons in the Qld Cup for the last two seasons. He was originally on a Storm contract. He has now signed with Souths-Logan.

Tony Matautia (2016-2017 U20) is on a Titans contract, and played most of the Q Cup season for Tweed Seagulls.

Jesse Savage (2016-2017 U20) was sacked by Cronulla for being caught with cocaine. he played a few games for Burleigh in Q Cup this season. He goes OK. He's a big boy now. Probably tips the scales at 125kg or so.

Lachlan Stein (2015 U20) went to Penrith, and then returned to play on a Jets contact in 2018. He got in to a couple of NSW Cup games but played mostly for Glebe.

Jayden Walker (2014-2017) was signed by Penrith for 2018 but then announced he has "retired". He is still playing in the local A-grade for De La Salle.

Nu Brown (2014-2017) was once again a very good NSW Cup player and got a few runs in the NRL for his trouble. He is under contract for the Bulldogs in 2019.

Keenan Yorston (2016 U20) went to the Titans and then to Souths-Logan. He played in the local A-grade in 2018.

Luke Metcalf (2017 U18) played the whole season in 20's for Manly, and made it in to one NSW Cup game.

Jaeman Salmon (2017 U18) went to Parra and started the 2018 season in 20's. He was starting in NSW Cup by round 9 and was in the NRL by round 21. Then he crashed his car while drunk ... so who knows what is next...

Tony Gigot (2013) has gone on to become a gun fullback in the ESL.

Adam Cuthbertson is still running around in the ESL, for Leeds.

I’m disappointed by this thread.

I thought I was going to find out where Mick Mullane is now or Dave Chamberlain or Paul Khan.

Jaden Clarke. Went home to the bush (Riverina). Played group 20 in 2017 but not sure about 2018.

Bit of an update on some of the blokes mentioned earlier plus some others:

Cleeland went back to Ipswich. Was a slow start for him getting back in to The Jets’ style but has been great lately.

Vea is back in Sydney playing in the lower grades. Can’t remember who for. Same for Vave.

Ryan King is getting a run in the NSW Cup this week for Mounties

Dylan Smith is still with the Tigers. Playing his second season asbfullback for Wests in NSW Cup. I think he is still only 19.

Matautia left the Titans/Tweed to come back to Sydney. He is playing for the Bulldogs in NSW Cup

Luke Jurd is playing for Tweed in the Q Cup. I have seen some of their games but haven’t seen any he has played in.

Harry Smith is currently the 3rd choice hooker for Redcliffe in the Q Cup. Any time Turpin stays up with Brisbane it means Smith gets a bench spot. Going OK.

Keenan Yorsten is now with Easts in the Q Cup.

Manumaleaulii is playing for Guildford Owls (Ron Massey Cup)

Eddie Faalua is playing for Penrith Brothers (Ron Massey Cup)

James Tuitahi went to Manly for a bit but is now with North Sydney

Thought I'd bump this one with an update on players who have been part of the Sharks at various times (lower grades, juniors, etc.). I'm sure I have missed plenty, but this is a good start.

Anyone who played NRL this season (e.g. Kelly, Scott, JAC, Lane, Peachey, Frizell, Isaako) or well known players (e.g. Leutele, Prior) I have left off the list.

Players in bold have NRL contracts.

Josh Cleeland & Keenan Yorston (Ipswich)
Luke Jurd & Harrison Muller (Tweed)
Pat Politoni & Sami Sauiluma (Burleigh)
Manaia Cherrington & Harrison Smith (Redcliffe)
Luke Polselli, Dane Hogan & Todd Murphy (Sunshine Coast)
Cameron King (Townsville)

Josh Carr (Dragons)
Brock Ilett, Tom Caughlan (Newtown)
Kurt Dillon (Parra)
Penani Manumalealii, Ryan King, James Russell, Mason McCarthy, Jackson Stewart & Kai Broadhurst (Glebe / Cronulla-Caringbah)
