Our season is on life support and about ready to have its plug pulled. Unfortunately the two teams that jumped us, Canberra and Gold Coast have hit a run of form, just hard seeing us reeling them in now.

this weekend has shown a few teams that want to make the eight have done so.
we are just not in the right form, down on personnel, forwards not standing up for a full game, compounding errors.

we have been like this for a number of weeks. despite a few wins there a little while back we scraped home against warriors and dogs.

a win over the warriors was really the thing that would have kept us in with some hope.

a different perspective might say other wise. I know some of the teams chasing the eight might have tough games, but we just look lost.

get 2021 behind us.

I get people saying there's no point us making the finals because we'll get pumped. But **** that, we've made the finals six years in a row. Why wouldn't you want to keep that streak going?

mate I would love for us to make it.
just to say we made it with the year we had, and it reveals some resilience in our club/team. need to have a good three game winning streak and rely on other games.
looking at the way we have performed most recently, we may struggle to get there. but again, very happy for it to go the other way

A couple of 50 point wins to Melbourne and Souths wouldn't go astray.

It's still very much alive, Titans, Dragons and Raiders would be expected to go 1/4 for the rest of the year. Win 3 we make it. Win 2 we need titans to lose big in a couple.

Knights still 1.70 to make it if anyone wants some free money.

I think we will do well to just win another 2 games, we just cannot keep teams away from crossing our tryline and our second halves are a joke , why would these things suddenly change? they haven't since Hannay took over , he wont suddenly find out how to be a coach and I don't expect the players to suddenly be inspired and decide to get their **** together for 80 mins, even just 60 mins would be nice

Knights lose to both us and Titans, they miss out on for and against.

Let's use 24 points as the benchmark.

Titans 20 (-2) - play Rabbitohs, Storm, Knights and Warriors. I expect them to lose the next 2 games as both sides in battle for minor premiership. Therefore they need to win the last 2 games to get to 24.

Raiders 20 (-74) - play Storm, Manly, Warriors and Roosters. Should beat Warriors but will still need 1 upset win to get to 24pts.

Knights 20 (-139) - play Sharks, Dogs, Titans and Broncos. Should beat Dogs and Broncos, which gets them to 24pts but have currently worst for and against. They would have to beat us or Titans to make it, lose both they may miss out.

Sharks 18 (-60) - play Knights, Tigers, Broncos and Storm. For now I count Storm as a loss meaning we need to win our next 3 games to get to 24pts.

Others (Tigers and Warriors) can get to 24 points but need to win all their games which is unlikely.

Forgot - I excluded Dragons as they have tough draw and unlikely to find 3 wins

Furthermore, If Knight beat both us and Titans they finish 7th. This then raises the possibility if no upsets that 8th could be 22pts with possibility of 3-5 teams on this and determined by for and against.

love the summary Sharkmate. thanks

knights have the best run toward the finals of those.
their attitude will be to come out firing against us - open up our defence in the middle. we need to fix our defence, this goes way back to when we played the warriors weeks back and broncos. still has not been fixed, and have a bench rotation that works. hopefully the others get the job done in attack

I guess I'm being realistic. our boys, lovely group, just have not strung consistent, solid wins together.

now is the time I know, but I think if we troops in key positions available and on deck fully fit - we would have something. it's all in their hands now.

will be cheering from my lounge room thats for sure

We will be lucky to win another game with Hannay in charge so I don't care what the other teams do.

Even highly paid professionals are still human and require direction, support and motivation from a leader. Hannah ain't that though at least he seems to be giving the players some fairly to the point blunt feedback

Hence The Cactus - Prickly on the outside soggy on the inside

Then just to make things worse we don't have a proper half decent captain on the field

Still with so many players missing any coach gunna struggle . You can see how much SJ has carried this team for a few seasons, we don't offer up that much in his absence but we were prob never gunna advance much further than week 1 finals with SJ in the team either

I think old mate gards said it, the problem is we're crap and only gathering more flies each game, whereas Canberra, Knights and others are actually improving. You'd give them a chance in their tougher runs home as they'll likely face a few sides with players rested. We're resting players now, only they're still on the field

Rnd 10 against souths when we lost on back of that utterly bs penalty call against Chad

That is the last time we looked remotely serious as a half decent footy side against non pleb teams . it's so long ago I was still allowed to go out to a pub in Sydney

No real improvement since then, only the illusion of it against far inferior opposition. Chad and SJ haven't been very popular amongst fans on here this year but we haven't looked any better without them really (still right call to move them on) but losing Moylan also contributed to this

Individuals have improved in the form of Kennedy & Jack Williams but I think this is more to do with individual progression, experience ect than anything Hannay is doing and the improvement was there to see while JMO was still here anyway

One thing for sure we seem incapable of keeping a team from scoring less than 3-4 trys per game on us. It's almost become mandatory . We don't have that guile, discipline, structure or desire to squeeze out a team. they are always given a sniff, especially in second halfs. my goodness those second halfs WTF Josh man

Who is bored and wants to go through and figure out our 1st half and 2nd half scores under Bomber vs under Hannay?
I'm a bit busy for that stats dive just now

If the Bunnies beat the Panthers in round 23, the Sharks won't be playing Storm in round 25. They'll be playing the Sunshine Coast Falcons.

Exactly, our last card but hoping we won't need it but it all starts this week. The boys need to move on from last week. We don't deserve to make it but as supporters you'd like to think we can make it.
