We need to sign some quality players for next year before we lose the next 5 games in a row. With so much money to play with now is not the time to look like the Broncos/Bulldogs.

When you look ahead at our draw, really we have the softest draw you could ask for.

Tough teams: Panthers twice, Rabbitohs (with injuries though), Melbourne at home

Winnable: Dragons, Titans, Cowboys, Broncos, Warriors, Raiders, Bulldogs, Manly, Warriors, Knights, Tigers, Broncos

Plus the Bye.

Unlikely to make the 8 still (paying $7), but could at least have a positive end to the year.

Hopefully.

I do wonder when Fitz wants to start looking towards next year and seeing more from fringe players.

As I said in another thread, I'm very worried with the halves situation.

When we have to rely on mathematical hope, then we are done. Just now hope we finish higher than Dragons.

We're done

A timely bump HB.

Yeah we are done. It’s been tough I guess with the injuries, change of coach, relocation etc but all the other teams have to go through it.

I just don’t get why the players aren’t putting in. If they’re still here next year they need to impress Fitz and if they’re not they need to impress others to get another contract.

Once we stopped selecting some of the players who were't part of our future plans it seemed apparent to me that our eyes were not really focused on this season.

Trying to encourage the unwanted out the door early to free up some cap space. Not saying that the tactics are wrong but this season doesn't really seem like high priority.

Who are you referring to in your first paragraph Thresh? The only person I can think of is perhaps Dugan (though he had had a few bad games before getting dropped). Chad was picked up until his drop in form, SJ & Woods still getting picked (until SJ got injured).

Yep those two. Fifs seems back in the fold now but they probably would have preferred him to move on too. Not saying that Fifs would be deserving of a spot if we had a full healthy squad of course.

Plenty of other background stories re Dugan but if we wanted our best shot at this year I'm sure we would have worked a lot harder to try to have him in the team over Chambers.

Likewise, Chad would have probably performed better than our halves the last few weeks. Of course they didn't know that both Johnson & Moyza would be injured but should have realised there was a decent chance this would happen.

Not saying that the tactic is wrong, just that we seem to be playing long game, which affects this season.

Care talking about Chad in that light. You will get lynched by the mob.

Still hope. The 3 teams above us are Raiders, Knights and Titans. Next week the Raiders play the Storm and the Titans play South’s. We play the Knights so our fate is in our own hands next week.

Didn’t someone say Ponga breached the bubble? Im sure I saw him at the shops today

Sadly, as the fans, I think we hold out for even a glimpse of hope, more than likely, whilst they won’t admit it, some players have turned up their toes & clocked off some time ago.

Both pretty good bets.. I’d bet on both of them losing before we won though

We're done

We were done by round 6 as soon as Morris was dumped and the Cactus given the reins - SJ was our only hope of salvaging something and now he is gone , losing Moylan made things much worse as well and not having a proper captain on the field.

but whatever, making the finals SJ or not we are going to get steam rolled out first week you would think. we are struggling to beat anyone anymore. Good early season signs are long gone team just look tired and running out of ideas now and looking towards an off season

they are clocking off now mentally and taking it easy on their bodies cause they know once Fitz arrives in the off season he is going to smash them physically and mentally and not put up with the same rubbish the substitute teacher has. Hannah talks about addressing things but Fitz will take action

this is a gap year, ofcourse we are focused on the future. moving on regular starters and appointing Hannah there is no way the club thought this was a recipe for a successful 2021. prob just hoped we wouldn't appear completely embarrassing

Sadly, as the fans, I think we hold out for even a glimpse of hope, more than likely, whilst they won’t admit it, some players have turned up their toes & clocked off some time ago.

I have had hope with worse sharks teams and in worse seasons than this - I have no hope with this squad, there is just something so wrong and off with them and I don't think the new style and rules of NRL has helped me or them enjoy things plus then we throw in all the Covid stuff

Can't wait until this Sharks era is behind us, it has been one of the most frustrating and uninspiring I have experienced (have been some great moments/games though)
sharkies need tough players and tough coaches not this oztag NYC style of player and game

We don't deserve to make 8.

The equation for us is simple - win against Knights, Tigers and Broncos and we make it, lose any and gone. In effect the next 3 weeks are knockout rounds for us.

When have we stepped up when we needed to in the last few seasons when a must win game is on the line? I can't think of many occasions. We don't want it and aren't good enough to get it anyway. We have had more than enough chances against mediocre opposition the last month to cement a top 8 spot and have failed every time

We have been struggling against Knights and Broncos and even the Tigers beat us last time out IIRC and they are as bad as us, prob worse but finding small patches of form "form" - I use that term loosely
