From injury article just posted on Sharks website

Graham expected to play trial
Brit, Noodles, Fifita and BHU will play trial
Ronnie unlikely
Matt Moylan and Mawene Hiroti will both need to be assessed this week

Xerri will not play

Safe to say Cam King will not play. No mention of Josh Dugan and The Knee of Mystery

if Moylan isn't playing this week what does that mean for the following weeks. Surely he's not going to get thrown in the deep end. Might need some game time for the Jets ?

Could be a good idea, but teams are often reluctant to play experienced high profile players in lower grades. If he is ready for the Jets but maybe not NRL just as easy to give him another week off, with full training, and put him in NRL the next week.
I think a full run with Jets would potentially serve him well though if he can't play trials.

I'd want to ensure I had a backup plan for his first few games back in the NRL. Hard to have a good back up plan in place to start the season too as that last interchange spot would likely see more action in first quarter of the season than the rest.
Moylan, Morris, Xerri, Ramien, Ronnie starting and maybe as #17 Teig (to centre, Xerri to wing, Morris to FB), that way the jersey is useful if things do go to plan. Carrying Kennedy or Katoa in #17 isn't very useful unless things don't go to plan.

Or you take Sorensen and maybe put Billy at left centre and Xerri to wing. And then you still have Sorensen to spend a little time at hooker if you had to.

I agree with Jets, but maybe bench.

Yeah maybe could start Moylan on the bench...
Would mean you start Kennedy at #1 and can do a straight swap, or you could start Morris at #1 and pull Katoa off when Moylan comes on.

You don't think 6pm on a Sunday is a stupid time for a trial? The NRL has hard enough time getting crowds to regular season games on Sunday nights, what are the chances of a decent turn out for a trial.

Especially when it's a fundraiser for Fine. the better time slot the more people come. The more people the more they raise.

I'm assuming there's a reason they couldn't play on another day or time.

I'll be going regardless just think a better time might have resulted in a larger crowd.

mate we played manly in a trial at home in 2012 on a friday and still only had 50 people there

its a trial, play it on mars at midnight, who gives a ****

1st of March is a Sunday last time I checked.

Yeah it's not the end of the world but that's a few hundred people who might have wanted to go to check out the new stadium and the team. A few hundred people who won't be giving Gold coin donations for Fine. That's several grand right there, more if you assume people will donate more than a gold coin.

People might donate a spanish doubloon as their gold coin. In which case the fundraiser could miss out on millions. Thanks again, agenda-driven NRL Shark haters.

Moylan is experienced enough to come straight back to first grade. Everyone will be rusty. Might even help us forgive a few dropped balls here and there if it's in the early rounds.

Same, especially as Talakai is and he's just on a train and trial contract (as is Royce), and Ferris is a development player.
Also missing Boogs.

Cruz is on a top 30 contract and we haven't seen him anywhere or Milne.
Trindall we at least saw last week.

Connor looking decent odds of a utility jersey though.

Heyyyy. Nice to see a bit of common sense.

As for Graham and Ronnie. I’ll be surprised if they actually play.

Morris might be giving Hunt every opportunity to get a full time contract knowing we're short middles/props.

Yeah either or both could definitely still not play. Not worth risking if they are still even a tiny bit injured.

Morris might be giving Hunt every opportunity to get a full time contract knowing we're short middles/props.

Assuming Rudolf has a top 30 spot tied up we have two spots left to fill to get to 29. Hunt and Talakai would be a good chance of filling those spots.
Hiroti, Paterson and Ferris maybe too although the later two are contracted to us with development contracts already, but will be tough to play either this season unless they get that 30th spot before June 30.

Interesting that the article on the Sharks website that posted the team list says Hiroti is "hopeful of being available for selection come round one" which implies he has a top 30 contract. Might be Talakai v Hunt for contract #29
