I still want to know why those block of seats are still empty in the Peter Burns stand at every home game.
Geez. Then there's even more reason they should be occupied. Sorry but the empty space sticks out like dog's balls and it's not a great look.
we need to get involved with an a-league team (3rd sydney team perhaps in the next 3-5 years) so the stadium gets used all year round. it would get great support considering we have the biggest local soccer comp in the southern hemisphere in player participation.
that way we could perhaps get government funding to up the capacity to 25,000 or maybe more becasue the group would be multi purpose then.
Question for Shire locals: what impact would a well run A-League team have on the support for tgr Sharks?
It's not just about that though. You might find kids start preferring to play soccer over league. Families may not be able to afford to go to the footy all yesr round either.I'm not a Shire local but I'm as close as you could get. I think it wouldn't matter much. People can attend both sports as their seasons don't clash.
Mate, I live on the South Coast (Shellharbour) and I would be very keen to buy a yearly ticket that included both the soccer and the Rugby League.
Can you get that for Parra and Wanderers?

I just don't think the a league is ready for more expansion yet anyway, they should be looking at improving the level of football over the next 5 or so years as the quality is pretty uninspiring at the moment as it is.Doesn't soccer **** all over league when it comes to junior participation rates? I played soccer all the way through juniors even though I'm much more passionate about watching the Sharks play. If people in the Shire are going to be fans of a team in Sydney, it has to be FC. How many more would follow a new St George/Shire/Southern Sydney based team? I definitely wouldn't go that way if I was the FFA.
two different entities so to speak playing out of the same satdium. this a league team would come under the sharks banner (southern sydney sharks or just the southern sharks) much like a lot of the sporting teams around the shire outside of league (soccer, baseball, water polo...etc) that we have an association with or are looking to have an association with once the development is up and running. it would be easy to offer a package deal with the two clubs working pretty closely together id imagine.
