Exactly. Maybe 1-2 teams down the track more. They talk about losing players like sam burgess or sbw, we lose more quality players to injury and off field bull**** than we do defection to other codes. And given our under 20s and reserves r so far behind 1st grade in quality, where do they plan on plucking another 50 or more quality players to make up new teams from
Haha whilst I agree with that I was talking about the A League soccer.

Sorry i dont follow that **** haha

In all honesty the club should be utilising the stadium through the off season to increase revenue. Circus's, carnivals, members days (merch sales, signings, kids games, members sign up specials bla bla). Get some revenue from more than 13 games a year. Also gets fans in, new fans.

We are the club that relies on crowds to gain money, and for years we've had terrible crowds. 17,400 or whatever yesterday was a nice looking crowd. Imagine pullin that each week

It did look good watching the broadcast. :good: Mind you, we won't pull many 17,000+ crowds if the team serve up too much more of that ragged 40 minutes that was supposed to be the second half. :(

Yesterday's crowd goes to show that people will turn up if the conditions are right. It was really heavily promoted across social media and on Nine (and I think with mobile billboards?) and they would have spent plenty on the rides and attractions etc so I'm not sure how much extra the Club would have made out of the day. I suppose the hope is that one positive experience makes people more inclined to go back again.

Who think we could get the average attendance up to around 16000 in the medium term? I think the current average is more like 13k.

That's just pulling a number out of the air but I feel like it would probably be achievable with improved promotion and on field performce.

Anything more might require some structural changes... stadium facilities/ticket prices etc.

Its pretty simple and you could do it every week

Adult entry $25
Kids free

$10 rides pass

Free kids entry got parents there.

It's all piss and vinegar.

NRL gets 15k at major stadiums, wants more teams to play there.

AFL get a 80yr low of 43k at a major stadium, they are currently looking at creating a boutique stadium within Melbourne for smaller crowds.

Once again while the AFL has their finger firmly on the pulse, the NRL has theirs firmly stuck up their blurter.

As in, that's how much tickets should be?

Or what the prices were yesterday?

Thats how it should be.

Kids free. They r the ones askin for all the merch and food.

Let em in free, that child hood experience makes em fans for life. The parents that dont ordinarily go now go too

I agree with this overall concept. If you price ticketed memberships & GA prices reasonably and have game day incentives that include free/cheap deals for kids you'll increase our crowds massively.

from memory they tried the twighlight cinema thing during summer a few years back and it was a huge failure. the last time a concert was there was back in the 80s. much like a big day out type festival...cant think of the name of the top of my head, but a lot of big name aussie bands played that day....

They had a concert there a couple of years ago, but had bands from the 80s.

They really should have made it a youth thing if they wanted to make money, but they probably didn't want to be associated with anything too risky that the DT could sink their teeth into.

It would be a dream for the Daily Telegraph, they could kick the Sharks and the youth at the same time!

The concert was 1987 and was called Australuan Made and featured Jimmy Barnes, INXS, Models, Divynls, Saints and I'm Talking. It was part of a national capital cities tour and the Sydney leg was performed at Endeavour Field. Big crowd but the field itself was completely trashed afterwards.

in 2009 there was the A Day At The Park concert which had two stages and had Hoodoo Gurus headlining. Although it was intended to be an on-going thing, it wasn't a success and the concept wasn't revisited.

It's not a very accessible part of Sydney for most people, that's probably an issue with staging concerts there I would imagine.

Another great thing about suburban grounds is that sense of familiarity and community

Being able to rock up on the hill and enjoy a few beers with fellow fans even if we are coming last on the ladder and well behind on the scoreboard
To be able to move around freely without getting in the people sitting next to and behind yours way. Not needing to book ahead to secure seats with your mates or whatever. Then into the local leagues club after the game for a beer and debrief if so fancied

Won't get that in the concrete seated jungle of the SFS or ANZ and I would feel less inclined to go to "home" games in seasons that we are not traveling too well form wise as it's just going to be less of an enjoyable experience and a bit of a PIA. Perhaps call me fair weather but it's the truth of the matter and I would be far from the only one that would feel like that. There is a reason I get to nearly every home game at Remondis, I want to go there.

SFS & ANZ have their purposes - for big finals and special games (roosters/dragons anzac clash for instance). Finals at the SFS is actually well suited to it and a great atmosphere when enough people turn out.

Oh and speaking of family fan days - where the **** do you plonk down a jumpy castle or rides within stadia such as the SFS or ANZ?
Having it outside the ground defeats the purpose for the parent who still wants to keep some eyes on the game along with their child

Good post gards

If we could extend one or both of our sideline stands it would improve our ground and get us up towards the 25k size stadium.

That is adequate. There are very few sporting teams in the world that regularly get larger crowds than that. We compare ourselves with the afl, but they are very rare in the international sporting landscape. Their crowds in comparison to population are extraordinary.

One of the worst things about this proposal is the push towards anz. It's not even a purpose built rectangular stadium. Even the storm, Melbourne A League teams and Victorian Government could see the need for purpose built rectangular stadiums.

We rarely get over 20k so I don't really so the need to expand capacity. They do need more covered areas though, it's a crap ground in the wet. I'd be happy to see some money spent on that, don't know how it could be achieved though.
