Thanks for that mate.

A few years back, Tony Caine was meant to be the next big thing, previous to that horrific leg break. Maybe he is the sleeper, the dark horse, the X factor, etc etc

When he did his knee, the previous weeks in PL, he was close to the leading try scorer from hooker, he scored something ridiculous like the last 3 games 2 or 3 tries a game.

Yes he has re-signed with the PL team, but obviously if he performs he can play up. I spoke to him the other day, and he reckons his knee is going and feeling great. So I hope for his sake it is, and he plays awesome, before his injury he was playing unbelievably well.

Caine's old man has something to do with the Stains apparently (don't quote me on it)

The writing was on the wall before the injury, perhaps it will work in our favour now.

The kid was/is very talented.

No, it was all a case of when he got injured, Saints offered him double what Sharks did, as the Sharks were unsure of how he would recover, if it all. Saints were prepared to take the gamble and hold true to their offer.

I know I spoke to him when he quit St George, he looked drained and over it, the recovery and intensity of the re-hab and trying to make the NRL squad, so he went back to accounting I think it was for a year, and now he is completely refreshed, mentally and physically.

Maybe Caine's signing had something to do with the letting go of De Gois. De Gois was the only Ricky thing last season that I couldn't see the sense in (I don't believe that the salary cap was really the bottom line).

Would much rather have Isaac this season (and for a few more).........but let's wait and see.

I tend to agree BUZ.

As hard as I try I can't come imagine how we managed to lose De Gois. He wanted to say at Cronulla, he got better every game he played and Ricky was quick to throw him back into the action if we lost our way a bit. I know the Knights had cash to replace Buderus, but surely they didn't offer THAT much. When you add the values of both Reni and Hughes together, factor in De Gois's desire to stay and the maybe a bit more stuffed in over 2010/11 with the likes of Ross coming off contract, not to mention a half a dozen drifting 2nd rowers on 1yr deals.

You know anything we don't, GW?

Was thinking about the hooker thing last night.

2008

Isaac $50 000
Kinga $40 000 (maybe)
Terry $Cheap as
Who else was on money?

2009

Hughes $60 000
Caine $Can't be too much more than not much
Terry $Incetive based maybe, but $+ on 2008 (Is he even signed?)
Isaac $50 000 saved
Kinga $40 000? saved
Who else is on money?

There still is something about the loss of Isaac that will never sit right with me until I know the real deal.

The guy easily has the potential to be one of the top 25 hookers of all time, and in my eyes can fill 5/8 if needed.

I also reckon he has a work ethic that lower graders can learn off big time.

Yeah Reni & Hughes contract still doesn't come near what newcastle offered.

I think we went close to 200k, I think about the 170-180ish, but I believe Knights paid him 270-280, I rate De Gois, I really do and I think he is an awesome player and will only get better, but I agree I would not have paid him 270-280ish myself.

No way. Bedsy was on half a mill plus once Johns retired. Isaac is good but surely they wouldn't pay overs like that, especially with Cam Smith and Farah coming off contract. What better way to replace the ex-Australian hooker than with the current or future Australian hooker.

He's Portuguese-Australian. Since Portugal don't compete too much on the International League stage, I'd think he could play for The Kangaroos.

But I wasn't talking about him anyway. The current Australian hooker is Cam Smith, the future Australian hooker is Robbie Farah.

I've never met either of them, but I know they're both fine footballers. Farah will be better than Smith though.

Tony Caine scored a try on the weekend, I would be interested to know how he played actually. Anyone?

That is great for him, I just hope he transfers that to better opposition.
