That's pretty much how Ricky used Kinga and Isaac last season. For mine the jury is still out on the acquisition of Hughes; I wasn't a big fan of bringing him to the club in the first place and although we are only two games into the season, I haven't seen anything from him so far to change my mind. Caine in contrast showed glimpses of his capabilities last night, and I think Seu Seu also has a fair bit to offer.
totally agree. yet to be impressed by hughes. caine on the other hand so far, so good.
And point him in Rachael Muldoon's direction.

Willy and GW are right. Send Hughes out to tackle and do the high percentage stuff in the opening parts of the halves then put Caine out there to carve up a tiring defense. I'd maybe even play Snowden off the bench to tear in off the back of the nippy dummy half work - he bent set defensive lines lastnight, he'd slaughter a retreating defense. Dougie and Snowden were awesome together, but you immediately noticed when they went off for a spell.

totally agree. millo and norrie arent bad but they are miles bellow dougie and snowden. noticable difference when the double change was made. i say either start douglas and millington and then do a double for snowden and norrie, or, douglas is pretty fit, so start dougie and snowden but dont interchange them both at once

Caine Should have a blinder against the Goons as they told him he was not needed

didnt he retire because his knee was still giving him strife?

Yea although he made a few errors caine was quick out of dummy half. I would still play huges over him though i would like to see him play the seu seu role for the first couple of games.

because the knights offered him sh!tloads more so he decided to go.

Was also told the by the sharks that they couldnt keep him, De Gois had said that he never wanted to leave the sharks.

Whilst this is true, with the departure of Bird, Anderson we still had the cash to sign Matua. I'm just saying that, in retrospect, it wasn't the best financial decision we have made is it? Let go a young, up and coming star, who we have developed, and sign a guy at the end of his career, who may or may not perform.

I reckon Hughes should start with Dougie and Snowden. Bash the living hell out of the opposition for 20 - 25mins, then bring on Caine.

I dont think Dougie and Snowden should be subbed off together though. Maybe stagger Snowden for Norrie, then switch Dougie for Snowden and Norrie with Millo.

I do beleive we need to have both Snowden and Dougie on to start though. You need to get over the opposition pack early in the piece. As opposed to trying to get over a forward pack that has gained even a little confidence later on in the half.

Same in the second half cept limit Hughes to 10-15 mins.

Snowden+Dougie in the front row = lethal.

Damn straight. Add that to a backrow of Gallen, Toupu and Reni(once he is match fit), then throw in Pom's and Williams for a few big hits and we got ourselves a devestating defense. Even Fergie put a few nice hits on against the knights.

From Canberra but in London for 09
Caine did you look dangerous but did makle an error or 2 . Think more game time and will give him more confidence. Less errors will occur. I give them 40 mins each too. Lets not get too excited off one game but caine could be a key for us this year and beyond. Hughes is on a one year contract. Think it should stay that way. He didn't let us down but we do need more from him i think.

Caine is on incentive contract, as in Seu Seu later. Hughes is only on a one year deal, and given De Gois went for the money he did, what else could Ricky do, he needed some experience, and no other real quality hooker was available, Hughes is solid at best, but his days of being electric are gone. I think Ricky is doing his best with the roster that was available to add to, there are many factors in signing players, although money is a huge part, not always the only thing, so although we do not see everything that goes on, we only see the results with signings, I know we were VERY close to having Matt Cooper, but he elected to stay and Dragons, so although we might have signed a Hughes and lost (I won't say let go because we couldn't match Newcastle) De Gois, doesn't mean we haven't been trying to sign bigger and better players. Sometimes it is all luck too, Tupou was a great coup, you win some and you lose some, you just have to keep trying, and I think Ricky is, very hard.

When Buster comes back I'd put Green to 9 and have Caine to replace him.

yep same hear.

degois shat all over hughes the other night but i was very impressed with caine. hes bulked up since he made his debut like 3 years ago and after that injury its amazing the acceleration he has. i also think green has improved out of site this year and think he could make the no.9 his.

did anyones heart skip a beat when caine kicked from dummy half???????

haha, like that episode of the simpsons where the dude's leg was attached by a tendon and he had to kick a goal to win the game ... the ball was going short, but his leg broke off and was flying after it and tapped it over the posts...

Confused about Tony Caine?

after watching tony caine come on over the last couple of weeks and basically add another dimension to our attack, and actually cause some inroads in the centre of the field, i was surprised to see him only get 15 minutes tops against the dogs, and now he finds himself relegated to nsw cup. am i the only one who thought he was playing alright(if not better than hughes in attack) or is anyone else out there confused like me?
