After they were the ones that reported on 'an exchange of words'.

Couldn't have happened to Ronaldo because his jaw was wired shut.
Nrl Received a complaint, which definitely, absolutely, 100% was not from us here at DT looking to create a story.

Statistical Comparison of Toby Rudolf 2020 vs 2021

Most (possibly all) posters think that Toby was better in 2020. Here is a look at both seasons.

Short version for egg = play Toby for ~40 minutes.

**

As we are all aware, his minutes went up.

With the extra minutes, his defensive work rate and tackle efficiency were similar.

...and when his minutes were kept to a reasonable amount he was equally as effective as the previous year. Once he started playing longer minutes he dropped off (which is understandable).

When Toby played longer minutes, the team struggled.

...but in 2020 when his minutes were limited he was a beast. It is not even close.

So Toby was better in 2020, but only because he played less minutes. Attack-wise he was still good when playing less than 50 minutes in 2021, and in both years he was pretty much identical defensively. It just looks worse because he played more minutes and therefore had higher totals for tackles and missed tackles.

Same player performing the same in both years when used properly. Just struggled when trying to play too much.

Thanks for those stats Burgo. Interesting read. I think Fitz will be on top of this and play Toby to his strengths. Looking forward to a good season from him. Sorry, you probably already mentioned this but in your opinion, is he better starting or coming on after 20-30 mins?

mmm interesting, but wouldn't we want to get a min of 50 minutes out of him, AND expect high attack/Defence outputs. OR we rely on a tighter set of defensive forwards( which hopefully we now have) and bring him on for those 40 minutes in attack, in maybe 2 20 min stints ( from the bench) ? I just think a good forward in the modern game should be able to play 50 minutes, with consistent impact both sides of the ball.

Games Toby played 50+ potentially also had other issues (injuries) which would contribute to lower win rate in those games also

I haven't specifically looked at impact of starting versus bench, but Toby's best games were all from the bench.

2 x 20 minute stints is the standard for this type of player. Williams pretty much plays like this always (comes on after 20-25 and goes off around the 60-65 minute mark).

Simple way to build the team (assuming back rowers play 80) is:

Brailey, Finucane, McInnes should all play 60+
Everyone else is best used in 20 minute blasts

If one of those first three is missing, insert Tolman.

Then figure out interchanges.

Yeah - for sure. Parra and Roosters were two of those games.
