I like Capewell but Warriors will quite likely be fighting for similar ladder area to us so I'm gunna have to hope he sucks.
As much as good SJ is good to watch I don't need another year of him being talked up either haha
I wonder if Capewell joining helps them free up AFB this year?

Yeah I know different positions but he’s experienced and they potentially might have an edge they can move to the middle ?

Just a thought

Wouldn't 'hurt' but not sure it'd help too much. They can sign Capes anyway.
AFB they will still want a good trade - I guess chances of them taking that trade this year maybe go up a tiny but if they are happier with rest of their side?

Could be, but he could just be on min also correct? Just can't have anyone in top 30 on less than non-top 30 guys.
Who knows I guess, maybe we left him on 120k - last years minimum but not enough to stay in top 30.

NRL min is 130k now

$650,000 cap for at least four, maximum six players, paid $80,000, can play from Round 1. Bonus of $3,000 for any NRL game.
*maths here doesn't work, min 4 is 320k, max six is 480k so I think maybe should read "paid at least $80,000"? Unless the extra accounts for lots of $3k bonuses?

Training contracts (train and trial). To rise to $1200 in 2024, $3,000 bonus for any NRL game, can only play NRL from Round 11 (ie after Round 10).

Clubs can promote players aged 17 to top 30 squads but can’t play until age 18.

Top 30 players can seek a release from their contract if dropped below State Cup level.
NRL has always been a bit vague on this one. I've never seen the word "minimum" in any report for tier 2 cap, but I agree the maths doesn't work.

I guess it is possible that the extra is to cover match payments. Teams have gotten in to trouble in the past by not having enough tier 2 cap space available to play a guy. $170k would cover every player on your dev list playing 9 games though - which seems a bit excessive.

If it is just a bucket of money, it makes sense to throw a couple of guys guys on there with no chance of actually playing (i.e. Coutts) so you won't have to worry about match payments, and then you can give Hiroti $129,999 :)

Was some speculation that Niukore would move to middle.

Yeah if your dev guys are playing total of between 56 and 106 games in a season something has gone pretty wrong.
That's two guys playing 27 games each surely if that happens, or four guys play half a season, you can upgrade someone into top 30.

It'd be cheaper actually as 27 games is 81k in bonuses on an 80k contract... save 30k by upgrading them to top 30!

I think he is more to cover the loss of Josh Curran.

Dragons , Bulldogs and Tigers.

Let’s be honest he signed a long term deal with the Warriors when they were rubbish and most didn’t see them playing so well.

Imo he isnt looking for a club to win a comp

Well his price is set so he’s gonna be getting paid the same wherever he goes so if I was him I’d be looking for a nice place to live and a strong team to play in.

Yeah $ is the only priority. Success is a bonus.

The money is relatively fixed - you’re picking up a $1m a year contract for two years

You could try offering more / longer but Warriors will need to take the trade still.
They won’t take half as good a player so he gets an extra two years.

No party (him, Warriors or bidders) necessarily have much more power either, as far as I can tell
Actually the best way to secure him would be offer a trade warriors won’t refuse
