Nah you move heaven and earth for him.
They wanted Toby a few years ago and are losing their best prop. Offer him and anyone else they want.

I don’t think he’d want to move there anyway and I don’t think the Warriors would want to go for him again. He had the chance and he backed out.

None of our other forwards are on enough coin to cover AFB’s wages as far as I know, maybe you can offer two, but again, you’d have to find two of our forwards who’d be willing to uproot their lives at very short notice and move to another country.

This would be an extremely difficult deal for us to do.

2024 NRL pay season has just started hasn’t it? I doubt any club would have a spare $1m sitting in their cap to make a fair offer for him.

Probably come down to what club can put the best package to him eg. Location close to parents, length of deal, money over the course of deal, premiership chance etc.. which I think we could most likely do for him. No idea what we have left in the 2024 cap but I remember in the past we always liked to keep a little bit spare Incase of a player on the market.

Or if he really just wants the money then a club like Dragons can probably offer him the most for this year and that’s where he goes

The player(s) leaving wouldn’t necessarily have to go to the Warriors.

Hm thats true. But you’d think they’d want something substantial in return. So at least one of them would probably have to go there, unless we bring a third club into the deal, turning into a complicated AFL style trade.

Maybe, but the Warriors released both Walsh and Curran without demanding anything in return. They understand the geography too.

A club like the Roosters wouldn't let that stop them
We should just move on the one's we don't want

Like GTG alluded to above, he may take a reduced deal if it is attractive for outside football reasons.

Very hard to ever really know how much money you have available, especially when plenty of in house guys are getting new deals before they are on market. You'd think we'd have to move at least one decent guy - the advantage perhaps is Warriors are very strong currently which makes them a bit more attractive, also ex-Sharks like SJ and Metcalf could make blokes they are friends with more interested.

Assuming they'd want a prop
BHU - born NZ, rep prop when fit
Rudolf - bad blood, probably out
Williams - born NSW but actually is a kiwi from memory, coming off a good season
Hunt - never lived in NZ but Moari heritage, needs consistency but now has 5 Somoan reps
Kaufusi - born NZ, 5 Samoa reps like Hunt
Hazelton, Colquhoun too valuable to us. THT probably not valuable enough to them.

The players leaving wouldn’t necessarily have to go to the Warriors.
True, to free up money, depends though if Warriors would consider releasing him without compensation. I wouldn't if I'm them.
Could be keen for a threeway.

Other potentially attractive trade pieces we have are Iro and Tracey. Eels could be interested in them, don't think Matto would go NZ but Greig might.

Dragons need a half so we could send them Moylan, and they have guys like Molo's, Musgrove, Fuimaono who could consider leaving.
Guys like Tracey, Atkinson could be attractive to Raiders if they wants someone to pressure Chevy for Fb and let Kris go back to centre, although he did an okay job

They restricted where they would release Walsh, they wanted Curran gone

Immediate release for compassionate grounds to be closer to his parents.

If they release him on them conditions then I don’t think any club will have to give them anything to later sign AFB

We’re not the Roosters. We don’t have an Uncle Nick that has that much power and money in the game. Our chairman and CEO are highly on the totem pole at NRL HQ sure, but it doesn’t help us with this sort of thing. So there’s no point us trying to act like them.

We’d still have to convince two or more players to move on to try and fit him in. He’s on a **** tonne of coin and with the Warriors reluctance to actually want to move him on, I doubt they’d feel charitable as far as contributing a good chunk of his salary goes.

I'd seriously be on the phone offering them a combo of Talakai/BHU/Kaufusi

Luke Metcalf when he sees Moylan hobble into Warriors training.

Yeah straight on the phone to players managers who only have 1 year to run with us and probably not in our future plans. Then straight on to his manager and start working out what it’s going to take to land him here

Top 3 prop comes on the market you start doing everything you can to get him on your books. Doesn’t work out so be it
