Roosters the favourites to sign Dane Gagai for next season. Knights do have a 1 year deal there but roosters are offering 2 years with a higher salary.

Angus Crighton likely to extend at the roosters.

Tigers have put an offer to him though according to the rumours going around. Him Bateman and Pappal’i would be a bloody good backrow.

panthers also putting an offer together for Crighton (if they miss out on Fifita).

We have Brit and Teig, both on less than Fifita. Would be a terrible use of cap resources for us to try and make room for him.
You'd let Teig go for Fifita though, he's an absolute game-changer. We don't have any real x-factor now Nicho's playing the straight man and he'd provide it in spades... Williams would kill it off his hip, too. That's some nice daydreaming right there.

It probably wouldn't be hard to reome Teig, either... wasn't there a bit of interest for him rumoured not so long ago? He's probably a starter at most clubs now, say somewhat better than Garner but near about that tier.

I actually do like Teig, I think he'll become a very good player. But there's not many game winners like Fifita in the comp.

I'll be in the minority but I really wouldn't tbh. I'm not saying Teig is a better player but in terms of managing the cap he's better value.

If we were going to spend up I'd be looking at other positions before second row.

I guess the issue is that elite players in other positions don't necessarily become available. Regardless though, I don't see him coming here for 850k/900k when there are offers on the table from Penrith/Roosters for the same value. If he did though, I'd be interested. It would be pretty handy for Tricky/Atkinson's development to stick the most damaging second rower in the comp outside them.

They don't but we're lucky to be in a position where that doesn't really concern us with our squad.

If someone like a Deardon was looking I'd be interested.

Multiple sites stating ‘David Fifita is basically gone from the titans’. Panthers the favourites as of right now. Roosters are a chance. It’s between those two clubs.

Yeah, no disagreement that I would prefer a spine upgrade.

I guess if we were looking like a fringe top 4 side that still struggled against the best, Fifita could shorten that gap now, rather than continuing to be fringe or waiting in hope of a spine upgrade.

It doesn't feel like a fitz type of signing anyway though. Just can see the value it could bring if it was.

Don't get me wrong , if I thought we would get what it says on the can then I would be all in , he has all the talent and physicality in the world , but like many that have had the same attributes they believing having the ability and producing it are one in the same , NAH .
I would want all sorts of performance KPI's in the contract that he wouldn't accept it , and that tell the tale .

Is Fifita really a game winner ?

All the potential in the world sure but could easily be a dud signing on big bucks
