The Cowboys wish may finally have come true.

They’ve been trying to get Luciano Lueilua off their books for over 12 months now. St George are now close to signing him effective immediately. Cows will be chucking in a decent chunk of change towards his 800k a year deal.

It’s likely he’ll sign a 3 year deal with the dragqueens.
Never rated this guy except early days, when he was trying to prove him self... at Saints was it, in a weak team. All hail mary and flashes imho, since.

He’s had some beast mode performance at the Cowboys. They are very few and far between though. Off field issues haven’t helped.

Click on the word here mate

Is kind of weird they aren't appearing highlighted or underlined on the post.
Depends on how you link the URL

If you highlight a word and use the link function like I did you get what I got. It is underlined if highlighted - not useful

If a URL is just thrown into a post you get the below

In my experience links such as that on other sites generally appear blue so you can tell it's there.

Was just highlighting I understood why Gumby was confused is all.

Interesting note in the Leilua article.

One potential option is for the Dragons to pay out back Corey Allan the rest of his 2024 deal to free-up a roster spot. Allan won’t play this season after rupturing his knee before Christmas.
I didn't realise this was possible, but I guess you are effectively doing the same as a normal release - but paying 100% instead of just picking up a portion.

Dragons would need to be careful on this too - since they'd need to make sure they were still covering all of his medical and rehab expenses.

Maybe they can pay him out for 2024 but sign him as a dev player for 2025. That might open up the roster spot and give him all of the insurance/medical cover he would have been entitled to.

Yeah creates a bit of an odd circumstance where usually they would do a lot of the rehab in house.
So it's a guy with no contract coming in and doing rehab etc - bit odd but not un-doable

Yeah. Unusual. There have been guys before with season-ending injuries who have gone early to rehab with their new team (SJ, Brent Tate) but a guy with no contract would be out on his arse. There might be something in the CBA covering this.

It definitely exists in some other sports. E.g. in the NHL any player who is injured and without a contract is allowed to use team facilities/gym/doctors etc. from his most recent team until such time that he is either signed by another team or submits retirement papers.

A player in Corey's position (injured, no 2025 contract, hasn't made a motza from the game) is pretty much the exact type of guy the outspoken members of the PA (Chad, Newton et al) reckon they were trying to look after in the recent negotiations.

Could he drop out of the top 30 and still be on the same money?

Well that was an astute purchase by the 2022 coach of the year then!

Flanno will be all over that like cheap suite!
Flanno loves a subsidized bargain (and fair play to him BTW).

There’s a second Sydney club that are keen on Lueilua. I thought he was at his best playing at the tigers tbh. They do need another second rower so could be them maybe.

Would he go there to be behind Bateman and Papalii but?
