Here’s how it works

They offer BHU/Williams/Kaufusi good money to go next year

Motivated to make more money, and knowing there is an opportunity, that player and agent raise the concept of moving early.

They let Addin’s agent know too, so he can push for it also.

The Warriors concede because both their incoming and outgoing players (and agents) are pushing for it. It also frees them up some money this season to do <other good use of money>

That's the only way it would happen. Have someone ask for a release but even then I doubt the Warriors release him as they are in "the window" now.

I'm also of the belief that the Warriors conceded on a player trade because Fitz and co have probably given their word they won't do anything about getting him early. It's the Fitz way.

Anyway, I'm very interested to see the current mob lift and play for their futures at the club. They have pressure to perform now. Way too early to speculate on who will, won't, should, shouldn't go when season 2024 hasn't even started. It's a shootout now, let the better men win.

I reckon other clubs would be looking at our team now to see who they can take.
Dogs, storm, bunnies, wahs, dragons, dolphins, raiders are all after forwards. I wont be surprised if more than one leave for deals we can’t afford.

Good news is there’s quite a few off contract across the league so plenty of options to look at rather than get in a bidding war - applies to us and other clubs

I’d be shocked if the Bulldogs don’t re-sign Damon Marshall. He’s a gun.

I think he would count as a developed player, so other clubs can’t sign him until round 6. Possibly some others on that list too.

Taukamo is the only Sharks developed player who is off contract in 2024. It’s possible Bradbury qualifies too, but borderline.

Can you clarify this rule? I've never heard of a limit to when you can sign developed players.

Volkman heard about that 500k that just got cleared up by Amones sacking obviously

But agree good move for him and dragons

Their recruitment drive moves back to net 0 instead of -1

Not confirmed, but was reported by DT around the time of new cap / CBA being done.

Developed player is anyone who has been contracted for 2+ years but has played less than 6 games in NRL/Cup combined.

Nov 1 does not apply to developed players. For them it is after round 6 in their expiring contract year. The idea is that it gives teams an extra pre-season + 6 weeks to evaluate their young talent.

Taukamo definitely counts.

For Bradbury, this coming year is year 2 - so anyone’s guess whether that counts.

Guys like Puru and Berrell who have played heaps of cup don’t count.

Was Iro on a Jets or a Sharks contract in 2022?
