Waqa Blake set to sign with St Helens after no nrl club showed any interest. How he managed to play over 150 nrl games is beyond me 😂 bloke was shithouse.

Probably go well over there, he was a really good athlete but football skills and decision making weren’t at NRL standard.
If he could have made a slight improvement in some of those areas he’d have been in demand but seemed to go backwards last season if anything.
Although 29 not that old perhaps his physical side has started to fade a bit.

155 NRL games, 64 tries mostly playing centre is a pretty solid NRL career.

What Lumelume could have been if his eyes looked in the same direction (do eels still have him?)

Was on a 1 year deal last year but haven’t seen anything on him regarding an extension or him signing elsewhere.

Lumelume is still with the Eels. He’s been in some pre-season videos.

There we go. There’s a player in there, hopefully he gets a crack and an reach that potential.
I think he’s reached that potential already
Yeah agreed. Lumelume in my opinion is a poster child for everything that is wrong with junior development and talent identification. He was an early bloomer who got picked in rep teams based on his physical advantage over kids his own age. His footy skills were always below par and as soon as he started playing against men he was found out badly. When he went to the Storm and joined their Q Cup team there were better players without NRL contracts who were sitting out so he could play.

Credit to him though. He's obviously got some other attributes like working hard and having the right attitude - and he's at least sticking around as depth and getting paid to play footy. Not everyone can be Latrell. The game needs these depth guys too.

Yeah even in Toyota Cup games I think he was showing his limitations imo. I wasn’t upset when he left.

Zac Hosking released by the Riff and joins the raiders immediately on a 3 year deal.
Been on the cards as a rumour for a while
Didn't kick on at Panthers nearly as well as most thought he might, but was fine

Panthers can start Martin (although he will miss time for Origin) and either Garner or Sorensen so no massive loss to them. With their cap pressure if Hosking is edge #4 he's probably overpaid. At Canberra he probably moves back into being edge #3.

Canberra shaping up to be an interesting one, lot of pieces in their puzzle from the outside looking in
You could have 5 cracks at guessing their best 17 for next year and still be wrong. Could be a tough season if Ricky doesn't get it right or it just takes too long to gel.

He can’t have been on too much. Only played four games at Brisbane before moving to the riff.

Yeah but even if he's on 20, 30, 40k over they are that tight they can probably use it, probably also use the spot to hold a junior.
In fact they have that much depth in the role maybe they can just beneficially use the squad spot, if they are happy with their other guys.

Martin, Garner, Sorensen, Hosking, Geyer, Riki (dev), Price (dev)

Easy to see Hosking is surplus to requirement if he is #4

edit: Harrison Hassett and Ativula Lisati are 2nd rowers in their top 30 too apparently
I don't know anything about those guys but definitely a position they have depth!
edit 2: Panthers fan says Lisati appears to be training with middles but Alamoti is another one who may play edge for them, with Garner and Geyer the main ones to have pushed Hosking out

Yeah Martin and Sorro clearly the top picks , Hosking next then daylight back to Garner who was criticised by the coach in a presser , never a good look .

They probably have another kid ready to step up anyway ..

Garner played the GF

And apparently next kid is Geyer although a few of the others are decent youngsters

Cleary loves Garner, gave him his tigers debut and wanted him at the riff
