I would honestly probably struggle to name 17 Tigers players so I don’t really know their depth or prospects.
If this Fainu you are talking about is similar to what we think of Dykes coming through for us, then yeah spending that much money on the same position might be a bit silly.

Just an outsider looking at them though with Sezer, Bula, Api and all their decent forwards, now adding an experienced rep 5/8 from that premiership winning Penrith system is that final touch where they start looking a little bit serious. Adding that bit of spark and winning flair they really need.

Benji might be worried where he’s thinking he needs a bit of early success too.

Olam might be more effective outside Luai too if he lands at TigerTown

Interesting. Could be a 1 to 2, or even 3 year project filling in for injuries, 14 bench spot etc then becomes the full time 6.

I wonder if Benji is seeing Luai as an eventual chief then because Sezer is 33 next year. Luai/Fainu combo
That’s how I’d be selling it to Luai.

Yeah - he was.

Fainu is very young. I can see a pathway for him like Katoa at the Dolphins. Might move around a bit and be in and out of the squad, and ready to possibly be the main man in a couple of years.
Fact there is every chance he's 1-3 years off settling into NRL (I haven't seen him enough to say) just makes it crazier to splash for someone ahead of him for 2025 onwards.
Probably stay as half 3 for this season just as the more junior player but could easily still get runs this year, like you say.

Olam might be more effective outside Luai too if he lands at TigerTown
Worry about that if they both happen - Luai isn't for this year. Not worth tanking one of the top rated juniors just in case you end up with both these guys. Longer term thinking if they did get Luai you could be right though.

Could be - if you're willing to splash the million plus on Luai you could well be backing him to evolve into your 7. We've seen a little of this play from him in world cup.

who would he run off for the dolphins? He is good at the Broncos as he just has to run and play what's in front of him at the dolphins he would have to it all.
Katoa is good. Just young. This is for 2025 they are talking about, so he'll have 40+ games under him by then.

Damn, 2022 - gotta lock em up early these days!

Okay so actually quite a few guys fighting for backrow in Jets - hopefully someone emerges as a clear, decent NRL backup / future player.
Damn there is actually quite a few spine guys around for Jets too

What is a "likely" full strength Jets...

Tracey
SS
Hiroti
Iro
Rodwell
Atkinson
Puru
Kaufusi
Berrell
THT
Leiu
Pickering
Colquhoun

3 of Uele/Dillon/Dakin/Finau/Fearnley/Hosking/Gibbons/O'Kane/Swann
Healey

Missing out - 6 of the '3 of' guys plus Waitere, Lester, Fuz, Wilton, Slade... between NRL 18th (and 19th) man, plus injuries, and Jets 18th man plus injuries chances are more of these guys than not will have a Jets jersey each week.
Leiu and Pickering the least safe jerseys here, especially with a couple new guys coming into Dev contracts.

Not sure what the likes of Billy Mags, Josh Mansour, Gagan, Lolo are up to either
I'm sure I've missed and forgotten some others!

**** me, I just realised I forgot Moyza! Likely even in a full fit squad him, Atkinson and Tracey would share a lot of the 18th man... presumably most weeks one is 18th man, other 2 are Jets starters.
Well I was right to forget Moylan here

Think we’ve scratched Fearnely and Gagan since also, but confirmed a couple (Mags, Sauce)

Brad has gone back to Panfs. Dunno about Adam. Dunno about Gagan.

He’s as good as gone after next season.
He keeps asking for a release but we ain’t budging. He’s required for 2024. After that he can go wherever he likes when he’s off contract

They must be making the best trade offer if they want him for this year...

I guess their SST money just opened up, but does Tracey really wanna throw himself into the mix of Taaffe, Wilson, Xerri, Quai-Ward ,Kiraz, Skelton, Addo-Carr and Crichton.
Guess he could back himself to beat out the likes of Xerri, EQW and Skelton
Taaffe Wilson Crichton Tracey JAC or Crichton Wilson Tracey Xerri JAC
Taaffe Kiraz Crichton Tracey JAC or Crichton Wilson Tracey Xerri JAC (Kiraz instead of Wilson or Xerri)

While there is a good chance he leaves a lot of players get that label but stick around.

Tracey would want to be going to a near guaranteed start if he left, as he knows where he stands in our squad, and being a local junior anywhere he has to move to just to stay a backup would not be attractive.
Belmore not too far though so maybe worth the extra travel if he sees a more open jersey.

edit: forgot Kiraz!
