The NRL already has the BEST "all-star" attraction in sports - State of Origin. That's the game's biggest event and it's a REAL CONTEST that is played at a HIGHER STANDARD. All star games in other sports don't come near this.

Some sports like Basketball, Baseball and Ice Hockey have the Olympics, which is the pinnacle, but we get the SOO every year. It's one of the best things about Rugby League.

I think the NRL v Indigineous All-stars is a great pre-season concept, but it's not a serious contest and adding to it would be overkill IMHO.

P.S Stupidest conversation on here, biggest issues in Rugby League than cheerleaders.

If anything id like to see the cheer leaders doing more then what they do now. Go to an American High School Football game and they wont stop dancing the whole time.
The NRL ones sit down for most of the game or walk around a little do a little cheer then stop. Id love for the NRL to incorporate them into something more. And having them have a "Grand Final" in the All Stars weekend would make it worth the extra effort during games.

That's because in American football they actually play for about 3 seconds every minute.

Dier, what are you on about?

I just think having cheerleaders is a waste of time.

I go to the footy to watch my club, the mighty Sharkies play, I honestly couldn't give a **** about anything else.

To me cheerleaders are just a side act to the actual game itself.

It's an American thing that belongs in American sports.

Cheerleader dont stop the game... they are there for entertainment before the game, during the breaks and just general cheering throught the game.. I dont see how they have any negative impact to the game... But each to their own, maybe you might like some male cheerleaders....
hahaha jk's mate! :glasses-cool:

I actually find the cheerleaders bloody annoying and no, it's not because I am a jealous female but rather because they inevitably seem to walk past our bay when something exciting is going on, with big grins on their dials, assuming everyone is happily perving on them as they glide by. Because I'm a short stump sitting in row c I can't see over their big hair, so I miss the excitement and have to watch it on the replay screen.

All they seem to do, apart from half time is walk from end to end. If they actually did a bit more cheering I would be ok with them being there.

This may be slightly different to the idea of an NRL All star weekend but....

Does anyone think that the 'Magic Weekend' that the super league have could work here.

For those who haven't heard of it, they play all the games of that round in one city.

Personally I think it would be a great idea with a few changes.

Imagine buying a 'festival like' ticket over two days and you get entry to all round games over two days. You could even have other activities there like some live bands, development programs for kids, player signing tents etc.

I'd imagine there would be a lot of organising but I think it would be a good weekend.

P.S If this takes off you heard it here first...
