Cheerleader dont stop the game... they are there for entertainment before the game, during the breaks and just general cheering throught the game.. I dont see how they have any negative impact to the game... But each to their own, maybe you might like some male cheerleaders....
hahaha jk's mate! :glasses-cool:

Why do we need entertainment before the game? I'd prefer the Toyota Cup to finish 10 mins before first grade just like Reserve Grade used to years ago.

I go to the footy to watch the footy.

We all go to the football to watch football, if i wanted to go watch women id rather pay less and just go to Platinum for a few hours..

IMO they are great for the game, and i think 90% of fans are with me, what have you go against them? how do they impact the game?

Agreed. Let's start with their ultra-conservative religious nonsense and embrace women that want to dance.

I like it, although get rid of the cheergirl competition, it's such a bogan part of the game. We want to encourage more females to attend games. Other than providing something fore male fans to ogle at, cheerleaders provide nothing to the game.

i disagree with that i take my daughter to the games and she loves watching the Mermaids dance and getting a high five from them on the fence.
And she still talks about dancing with them last year for the tigers game even though it was for that crap song by LMFAO

Most of the Cronulla girls are actually top dancers and have been dancing from a young age. It might not be the pinnacle of their profession, but they are getting paid to do something skillful which they have worked hard at and love doing.

If you are going to go all feminist about it, you could apply that stance to nearly all types of dancing. They pretty much all arise from an attempt to appeal to the opposite sex.

We already have cheer leaders. They're a part of our teams culture.

Have done since at least the 80's too.

Cheerleaders have been part of our game since the 70's (i think) in some form, in the past 5-10 years they have developed their own culture and are expanding to be their own entity. I myself dont mind it, my daughter wants to be a sharks cheerleader when she grows up. My misses like watching them when they put on a show. They are part of our current game, which is already a great game....

So why not get some guys prancing around in speedos for the female fans?

I'm fine with that, if it brings in more people. (Which it probably wouldn’t) But I don't think the girls a wearing the equivalent of speedos anyway. I'd be more than happy for us to have some male cheerleaders like Penrith though.

They pretty much do have male dancers dressed in speedos that for many dance routines (away from football) anyway.

Sharks Mermaids are a must for Toyota Stadium. I don't see any issue with having cheerleaders in any sport. I think there should be more cheerleaders for other things as well, Like at workplaces, Racetracks, Train Stations... It'll sure make the world a better place =)

If thats what your after champ i think you should start a new thread named something like 'I want male cheerleaders in speedos.. WHOS WITH ME'

Sorry Mr Bishop, couldnt help myself... hahaha

I don't want cheerleaders, full stop. But if you're all for female cheerleaders because they add to the entertainment, why shouldn't there be male dancers as well for female fans?
