$10 says half way through the year when he hasn't played a game at fullback the bloke is actively looking for another club and we get rumours about it from his management.

Yeah. So he'd be looking for opportunity because he wants to play first grade?

I dont get it.

Why would there be a debate about this? Gordon is far and away the best option we have.

Because apparently people aren't happy having the likes of Stapo over a player who has already shown himself to be a deadly attacking player and was once our beacon of hope. Therefore some people would rather have both Gards and Gordon.

What annoys me more than anything is that J. Wright will likely play in the centres ahead of Leutele, but anyway that's another thread.......

Yeah i'd like to see them compete for the spot too to be honest.

Hopefully we will get to see them both get a fair shot in the trials.

Why would there be a debate about this? Gordon is far and away the best option we have.

Why? Pretty simple.

A team with both Michael Gordon and Gards (of the form we saw in previous years/the form that had most league spouting about how deadly he was) is better than a team with Michael Gordon and the likes of J Wright.

The debate isn't "is Gards better than Gordon?" The debate is "will Gards ever find the kind of form necessary to make his way into the team and push Gordon to center or wing to replace a nufty?" Because if Gards does find that spark again, he will make the team, Flanno will move Gordon and the team will have more attacking weapons than it has had in quite some time.

Gards is in control of his own future in the team though, he does have some hard work ahead of him, but the Sharks will be the real winners if he comes through with the goods.

Potentially we have a team this year that could rival our late 90's early 00's teams if they sort the chemistry early this could be unlike any year we have had to date because in very real terms we could be premier's . So I hope gards can find that spark .

Wright shouldn't be considered at all, he was a safe custodian last year but had 0 ability in attack/flair.

Personally I would play Gardner because as others have said, a team with both Gardner and Gordon would be awesome and I don't think Gardner can play anywhere else.

Besides, when Garder is at his best he is an attacking weapon in broken play, up there with the best fullbacks in the comp. If he is in that form, he needs to be in the side.

Gardner will play better in a better team, which is something that I think we'll be this year.

It'll take the pressure off, enable him to build some confidence and give him more opportunities in broken play
How will a better team around him help with his handling and positional play... Which is what most peoples gripe is with him
